My Green Lunch is dedicated to providing fresh, healthy, and sustainably sourced meals to our community. As we grow, we're looking for an organized, people-focused Director of HR & Operations to keep our team supported and our day-to-day operations running smoothly.

Position Summary

The Director of HR & Operations will oversee the human resources functions and daily office operations for My Green Lunch. This role is responsible for recruiting and onboarding staff, managing employee records and benefits, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and keeping the office running efficiently — from supplies and scheduling to vendor coordination. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional who enjoys wearing multiple hats and building a positive workplace culture.  Will also manage administrative support team.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Manage hiring, job postings, and new hire onboarding.
  • Conduct salary reviews.
  • Handle employee write-ups and documentation of performance/conduct issues.
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local employment laws; implement required annual policy changes.
  • Assist with staff meetings as needed.
  • Serve as the primary interface with TriNet for HR, benefits, and payroll administration.
  • Process payroll.
  • Monitor the time and attendance system.
  • Serve as the interface with EDD (Employment Development Department) for unemployment claims and related matters.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee files.
  • Manage and monitor workers' compensation claims and reporting.

Training

  • Coordinate annual employee training for kitchen staff and drivers.
  • Coordinate required compliance training.
  • Keep the company safety plan updated.
  • Translating all English to Spanish documentation.

Office Management

  • Oversee day-to-day office operations, ensuring a clean, organized, and well-supplied workplace.
  • Manage vendor relationships (equipment, facilities, IT support).
  • Coordinate staff scheduling and calendars across departments.
  • Handle incoming communications, correspondence, and administrative requests.
  • Track office budgets and expenses; process invoices and reimbursements.
  • Plan and coordinate company meetings, staff training, and team events.
  • Assist leadership with special projects and other administrative duties as assigned.

Operations

  • Work with staff on processes and procedures.
  • Keep OSHA requirements and documentation up to date.
  • Interface with the insurance company on auto and business insurance matters.
  • Work with TriNet on annual workers' compensation safety reviews.
  • Manage the front office.
  • Order and manage general office/kitchen supplies.
  • Order and manage paper goods.
  • Manage facility signage.

Cash Flow

  • Write checks as needed (rent, vendors, etc.).
  • Monitor vendor accounts for billing accuracy.
  • Deposit checks and record ACH transactions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field is required.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in HR, office management, or a related administrative role; food service or hospitality industry experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and payroll processes.
  • Hands-on experience with TriNet (or a comparable PEO/HRIS platform) required, including benefits administration and payroll.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
  • High degree of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and general office technology.
  • Basic bookkeeping skills, including experience writing checks, reconciling vendor accounts, and recording deposits/ACH transactions.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements and workplace safety compliance.
  • Experience interfacing with business/auto insurance carriers and supporting workers' compensation safety reviews.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and ordering supplies.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification preferred but not required.
