About the company
Our client is a fast-growing, private-equity-backed electrical services company with a national footprint. Its systems integration group designs, builds, and commissions industrial control systems, with its own panel shop and an established base of midstream, oil and gas, and semiconductor manufacturing customers. The group has the customers, the sales team, and the margins in place. It now needs a leader to build it out.
The role
This is a business leadership role with technical authority. You will own the group's P&L, set its growth strategy, and lead the engineering, panel building, and controls teams that deliver its work. You will partner with sales, project management, and field services, and you will be the senior technical voice in front of customers.
What you will do
Own a multi-million-dollar P&L, including revenue, margin, EBITDA, budgets, and headcount
Set and execute a growth strategy for the group alongside the sales team
Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering and controls team
Serve as technical authority for control system architecture and design: PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, DCS interfaces, industrial networks, and cybersecurity
Establish engineering standards and design practices across projects and offices
Ensure work meets applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, UL) and customer requirements
Balance engineering resources across projects and support commissioning and startup on complex work
Support proposals, scoping, and estimates, and build long-term customer relationships
What you bring
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, or a related technical field
12 or more years in industrial controls and automation, with significant time in systems integration
A record of owning a P&L of $20M or more and growing a business, not only running delivery
Experience leading and developing engineering teams
Strong working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networks
Experience in oil and gas, midstream, or industrial or semiconductor manufacturing
Experience with low-voltage electrical systems in industrial settings
Nice to have
Professional Engineer license
Experience integrating acquired businesses
Background in a service-based or EPC-adjacent company
Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity standards
Location
The group's hub is in North Texas. You can relocate with full support, or live elsewhere in the region and travel to the hub at least every two weeks.
