    Position Overview

    The Director of Compliance is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing, strengthening, and executing AutoPayPlus’ enterprise compliance program and Compliance Management System (CMS).

    Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the Director of Compliance provides strategic and operational leadership across regulatory compliance, monitoring and testing, regulatory change management, risk assessment, policies and procedures, third-party oversight, training, audits, and regulatory examinations.

    This role serves as a trusted compliance advisor to business leaders and works closely with Operations, Technology, Finance, Marketing, Product, and other departments to identify regulatory risks, develop practical solutions, and ensure business initiatives remain aligned with applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards.

    The Director will also help drive a strong culture of compliance, accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

    This position is based in Orlando, Florida and is a fully onsite role. Candidates must reside in the Orlando, FL area and be able to work onsite Monday through Friday. This position is not remote or hybrid.

    What You’ll Do

    • Lead the ongoing development, implementation, and enhancement of the company’s Compliance Management System (CMS)

    • Provide strategic compliance guidance to senior leadership and business partners

    • Monitor, interpret, and assess applicable federal and state regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML, OFAC, GLBA, UDAAP, MSB requirements, consumer protection requirements, and other regulations applicable to the business

    • Evaluate regulatory changes and lead the implementation of appropriate policies, controls, procedures, training, and operational changes

    • Lead and coordinate regulatory examinations, external audits, internal compliance reviews, and related remediation activities

    • Develop and maintain a risk-based compliance monitoring and testing program

    • Identify, assess, prioritize, and mitigate regulatory, operational, consumer, and reputational compliance risks

    • Oversee compliance risk assessments and maintain compliance risk registers, audit logs, issue-tracking documentation, and corrective action plans

    • Develop, review, approve, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, standards, and governance documentation

    • Establish and monitor compliance controls designed to identify potential gaps before they result in regulatory or consumer risk

    • Track compliance findings and ensure corrective actions are appropriately documented, assigned, and completed

    • Partner with Human Resources, Technology, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Product, and other departments to incorporate compliance requirements into business processes and new initiatives

    • Provide compliance guidance during the development or modification of products, services, marketing materials, workflows, systems, and business practices

    • Oversee vendor and third-party compliance due diligence, monitoring, and risk management activities

    • Lead or support investigations involving potential compliance concerns, control failures, or regulatory issues

    • Develop meaningful compliance metrics, dashboards, reports, and trend analyses for executive leadership

    • Prepare and present compliance updates, risk assessments, findings, and recommendations to senior leadership and applicable governance committees

    • Oversee the development and delivery of compliance education and training programs

    • Partner with business leaders to promote a strong culture of compliance and accountability throughout the organization

    • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to compliance team members

    • Support department planning, resource prioritization, and continuous improvement initiatives

    • Serve as a subject-matter expert and trusted resource for complex compliance matters

    • Maintain awareness of regulatory trends, enforcement activity, industry developments, and emerging compliance risks

    What We’re Looking For

    • 8–10+ years of progressive compliance experience within fintech, banking, payments, consumer finance, financial services, or another highly regulated environment

    • Demonstrated experience leading or significantly contributing to an enterprise Compliance Management System

    • Previous compliance leadership, management, or supervisory experience

    • Strong knowledge of BSA/AML, OFAC, GLBA, UDAAP, MSB requirements, consumer protection regulations, and related regulatory frameworks

    • Experience leading regulatory examinations, audits, compliance testing, monitoring, and remediation activities

    • Demonstrated experience conducting compliance risk assessments and developing risk-based monitoring and testing programs

    • Experience interpreting complex regulatory requirements and translating them into practical business processes and controls

    • Strong understanding of regulatory change management and compliance governance

    • Ability to identify and assess risk while developing practical solutions that support both compliance and business objectives

    • Strong leadership, judgment, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to influence and partner effectively across multiple departments and levels of leadership

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex compliance matters clearly to executive and non-compliance audiences

    • Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

    • High level of professionalism, discretion, integrity, and accountability

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field required

    • Must reside in the Orlando, Florida area

    • Must be available to work fully onsite Monday through Friday at AutoPayPlus’ Orlando office

    • This role is not eligible for remote or hybrid work

    Preferred Qualifications

    • CAMS, CRCM, CFE, CCEP, or comparable compliance or risk certification

    • Master’s degree, Juris Doctor (JD), or other advanced degree

    • Experience within fintech or a non-depository financial institution

    • Experience with payments, consumer finance, money services businesses, or financial technology platforms

    • Experience implementing or enhancing compliance monitoring and testing frameworks

    • Experience with compliance management systems, governance platforms, audit-management tools, regulatory-change tools, or learning management systems

    • Experience developing compliance dashboards, key risk indicators, and executive-level reporting

    • Experience building, developing, or leading compliance teams in a growing organization
