    Description


    Our client is a global B2B technology organization seeking an experienced Director of Communications to lead its integrated internal and external communications strategy.

    This highly visible role will help shape the organization’s corporate narrative, strengthen its reputation, and ensure consistent, compelling communications across key audiences and channels. The Director will partner closely with senior leadership and serve as a trusted communications advisor while leading programs spanning employee communications, executive communications, media relations, thought leadership, change communications, and issues management.

     

    This is an opportunity for a strategic communications leader who also enjoys being hands-on and executing in a fast-moving, evolving organization.

     

    What You’ll Do
    • Own the organization’s integrated communications strategy and annual communications plan, aligning internal and external communications with broader business and brand priorities.
    • Partner with senior leadership to define corporate narratives, key messages, and communications strategies for major business initiatives, including growth, transformation, and organizational change.
    • Lead executive communications, including talking points, speeches, town halls, scripts, Q&As, and leadership messaging.
    • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior executives.
    • Oversee employee communications programs and channels, including intranet content, newsletters, enterprise communication tools, and employee events.
    • Develop communications that strengthen employee alignment, engagement, and organizational culture.
    • Plan and execute external communications, including media relations, company announcements, press materials, and proactive storytelling.
    • Build and manage an integrated communications calendar and editorial process, establishing effective governance, approval processes, and quality standards.
    • Identify and develop thought-leadership opportunities and prepare executives and other spokespeople for external engagements.
    • Lead communications related to emerging issues and crisis situations in coordination with senior leadership.
    • Establish communications KPIs and measurement practices, using engagement data and feedback to continually improve effectiveness.

     

    What We’re Looking For
    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
    • 10+ years of progressive communications experience across internal, external, and/or corporate communications.
    • Experience leading enterprise-level or global communications programs within a B2B environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to counsel, influence, and partner with senior executives.
    • Strong executive presence, judgment, and discretion when handling sensitive information.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex subjects into clear and engaging communications for different audiences.
    • Strong experience with communications strategy, channel planning, editorial processes, approvals, governance, tone, and voice.
    • Hands-on media relations and external communications experience, including press releases, media pitching, briefing materials, and spokesperson preparation.
    • Experience developing communications for organizational change and transformation, including town halls, leadership toolkits, and employee campaigns.
    • Experience supporting issues management and crisis communications.
    • Strong analytical skills and experience establishing KPIs and using data and feedback to improve communications programs.
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365, including SharePoint, and familiarity with modern communications platforms and channels.

     

    Preferred Experience
    • Experience building, leading, or developing a communications function or team.
    • Experience coaching and developing communications talent.
    • Experience managing agencies, consultants, or other external partners.
    • Experience within B2B technology, software, enterprise services, or similarly complex organizations.
