    Applications are being accepted for Educational Interpreter. This is a Bloomfield Hills Schools Interpreter- Intervener bargaining unit position. REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Deaf and Hard of Hearing DESCRIPTION: 35 hours per week

    SUMMARY: Educational interpreters' primary function is to facilitate communication among students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, their hearing peers, and others in the school (in a variety of content areas) and community. Other duties that may be performed when they do not interfere with interpreting include tutoring, participation in meetings and being an active member of the educational team. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have EIPA 4.0, Educational Endorsement and active registration with Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). Additionally, applicants must speak English and have the ability to work successfully with students and staff members.     SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to work with students in a wide variety of academic and functional environments. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally, in ASL and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education Policies.
