A mission-driven arts and culture nonprofit is seeking an experienced and polished Senior Development Manager to support fundraising, grant writing, donor stewardship, development operations, and financial administration. This is a part-time, in-person, temporary role based in New York City.

SCHEDULE: 21-28 hrs/week, 3 days in person, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
DURATION: Ongoing
HOURLY RATE: $35/hr - $40/hr DOE
Is This Your Dream Job? This role is ideal for a seasoned development professional who has experience supporting foundation and government fundraising. This individual will lead and support a broad range of fundraising, membership, individual giving, institutional fundraising, and donor engagement initiatives.
This role is ideal for a polished development professional with experience managing membership and individual giving programs and campaigns, as well as foundation and government fundraising.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- 5+ years of professional development/fundraising experience, with demonstrated progression into a manager-level role.
- Experience managing membership and individual giving programs and campaigns.
- Demonstrated success with foundation and government grant proposal and report writing.
- Strong donor stewardship experience, including writing polished acknowledgement letters and donor communications.
- Experience with prospect research, donor profiling, and funder research.
- Experience developing funder PowerPoint decks, presentations, proposals, and briefing materials.
- Experience supporting or managing a capital campaign preferred.
- Advanced experience with Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or a similar fundraising CRM, including entering grants and opportunities, maintaining donor records, and running reports.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including developing and tracking fundraising budgets.
- Experience with basic accounting and financial processes, including Accounts Payable, deposits, and reconciliations.
- Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Professional, polished, and collaborative approach to working with donors, funders, leadership, and colleagues.
- Interest in and commitment to the arts and culture sector.
How You Will Spend Your Day: The Senior Development Manager will oversee development operations, manage donor and prospect information, support capital campaign efforts, and develop compelling written and presentation materials for funders and donors.
Fundraising & Grant Management
- Manage and support foundation and government fundraising, including prospect research, proposal development, reporting, and stewardship.
- Research and identify new funding opportunities and develop detailed funder and prospect profiles.
- Track grant deadlines, submissions, awards, reporting requirements, and opportunities.
- Prepare compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and other funder communications.
- Develop PowerPoint presentations, funder decks, and briefing materials.
- Support and coordinate capital campaign activities and materials.
Membership & Individual Giving
- Manage membership and individual giving programs, campaigns, and communications.
- Develop strategies and materials to support donor acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, and retention.
- Manage donor acknowledgement and stewardship activities.
- Support fundraising campaigns, appeals, events, and donor engagement initiatives.
- Prepare donor communications and other materials that strengthen relationships with supporters.
Development Operations & CRM
- Manage accurate donor, prospect, membership, grant, and opportunity records in Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar CRM.
- Enter and manage grants, opportunities, gifts, prospects, and membership information.
- Run CRM reports and analyze fundraising data to support development strategy and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate development records, calendars, deadlines, and reporting systems.
- Prepare mailing lists, donor reports, prospect reports, and fundraising dashboards.
Budget & Financial Management
- Develop and track development and fundraising budgets using Excel.
- Monitor fundraising revenue and expenses and assist with financial reporting.
- Support Accounts Payable, deposits, reconciliations, and other development-related accounting functions.
- Work closely with finance staff to ensure accurate fundraising and financial records.
