Developer III

Bachelor's degree-in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job-related degree; OR 4 years of job-related work experience; OR 2 years of job-related experience plus an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job-related degrees. We work together to challenge each other, help each other grow and continue to support our customers as we look at how our mainframe software development lifecycle will be over the next 5-10 years and what tools/technologies we want to offer as the owners of the developer experience on the mainframe.

DPP is seeking a Developer III for an opportunity with our client in the healthcare insurance industry.
 
Work Location: Hybrid in Columbia, SC; onsite Tues, Wed, Thurs and as needed
Duration: 11 months
Terms: W2 Contract
Work Authorization: US Citizen; must be able to obtain/maintain a low-level (Public Trust) clearance
 
About the Team:

• Tech Support / Mainframe Programming Support Team is currently made up of 8 personnel, ranging from highly skilled mainframe programmers to newer programmers out of college.
• We work together to challenge each other, help each other grow and continue to support our customers as we look at how our mainframe software development lifecycle will be over the next 5-10 years and what tools/technologies we want to offer as the owners of the developer experience on the mainframe.

Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day support for application development teams utilizing mainframe development tools and utilities.
• Assist developers with troubleshooting development, testing, and implementation issues.
• Support code promotion, testing, and deployment activities.
• Partner with customers to identify process improvements and development efficiencies.
• Participate in modernization initiatives focused on improving developer productivity.
• Assist in maintaining development support documentation, standards, and procedures.
• Support application-level security administration and access requests as needed.
• Participate in vendor tooling initiatives, upgrades, and support activities.
• Assist with Disaster Recovery exercises and business continuity activities.

Required Qualifications:

• JCL experience.
• Experience with Security Reporting (using SORT/SyncSort).
• Query skills (DB2/SQL/IMS).
• 4 years of application development, systems testing or other job-related experience.
• Bachelor's degree-in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job-related degree; OR 4 years of job-related work experience; OR 2 years of job-related experience plus an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job-related degrees.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Source Control (GitHub, Endevor, IBM DBB, ChangeMan).
• FreezeFrame or DumpMaster.
• COBOL programming

Soft Skills:

• Being able to translate technical issues into business impact and the potential time savings changes can provide.
• Helping to bridge our technical know-how with the customers’ demands and future needs.
