We are seeking a Design Engineer to join the Design Department in Denver, Colorado. This role is responsible for the structural design and detailing of prestressed and precast concrete structures in accordance with applicable PCI Standards and established engineering procedures.
The Design Engineer will prepare engineering calculations, connection designs, project details, and technical documentation while coordinating with project managers, design teams, plant personnel, and field teams. The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple project deliverables with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Design and detail prestressed and precast concrete structures while considering structural integrity, production, handling, transportation, and installation.
Prepare structural calculations, design assumptions, analysis, results, and calculation packages for review.
Perform and document precast concrete connection design and related engineering calculations.
Review project plans, specifications, and details; identify deficiencies and assist with resolution.
Coordinate project information and design details with the design team and Project Managers.
Consider material, labor, production, and installation requirements when developing economical design solutions.
Coordinate with plant and field personnel to support practical and efficient design concepts.
Assist with project management activities, including budgets, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
Ensure designs and details are accurate, complete, and prepared in accordance with established standards and procedures.
Provide technical support to other departments as needed.
Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Stay current with developments in the precast/prestressed concrete industry and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Pursue ongoing technical and professional development.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Engineering experience involving structural concrete, precast concrete, or prestressed concrete preferred.
EIT/FE certification or progress toward professional licensure is preferred.
Graduate-level structural engineering education or relevant coursework is a plus.
Experience with engineering calculations, structural analysis, and construction documentation.
Familiarity with industry standards, engineering procedures, and quality-control practices.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
