Position Summary

As a Database Engineer Contractor, you will design, develop, and optimize database systems to support data storage, retrieval, and analysis. Design and construct large relational databases to meet project requirements. Develop and maintain ETL processes to integrate new systems with existing data warehouse structures. Optimize database performance by refining system functionality and ensuring efficient data retrieval. Implement and enforce database security measures to protect data integrity and confidentiality. Perform regular data validation and quality checks to ensure database accuracy and reliability.

Work you'll do

The service you will provide the Deloitte project team as a Database Engineer Contractor will include:

• Ingest legacy SAP data into Azure Data Lake by using Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Model and migrate in-scope analytics datasets, metadata, lineage, and business rules.
• Structure Synapse data for defined query, scalability, retention, and performance needs.
• Perform validation, reconciliation, and acceptance testing to verify migration completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
• Apply security and compliance controls for sensitive data and restricted access.
• Document delivery status, risks, and issues against agreed timelines and effort limits.

Qualifications

Required:

• 2+ years of data engineering or software development experience.
• Experience building and supporting pipelines in Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics, including Synapse Studio, integration pipelines, dedicated SQL pools, and serverless SQL pools.
• Experience writing Structured Query Language for data transformation and validation.
• Experience creating star-schema and slowly changing dimension data models and dataset documentation.
• Experience performing data quality checks, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Experience applying data-access controls for sensitive data.

Preferred:

• Experience with SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing) Business Warehouse concepts, including InfoCubes, DataStore Objects, CompositeProviders, Open Hub, and Operational Data Provisioning.
• Experience migrating SAP supply chain or operations data to Azure data platforms.
• Experience using Python for data engineering or machine learning.
• Experience with SAP Data Services, Theobald Xtract, or SAP Data Intelligence.

The expected pay range for this contract assignment is $60 - $65 per hour.  The exact pay rate will vary based on skills, experience, and location and will be determined by the third-party whose employees provide services to Deloitte.
