At Humanitarian Experience (HXP), we design and operate humanitarian service expeditions that empower teenagers to make a difference across the globe. Our mission is unapologetically to strengthen the roots of covenant Israel, and the vehicle we use to do that is sustainable humanitarian work. In essence, we work to transform the lives both for those we serve and those who serve with us. Joining our Data Team means a chance to be part of meaningful, impactful, and life-changing work.
HXP is looking for a Data Architect to help strengthen, organize, and improve the systems that support our data-driven decisions. This role is a hybrid between data analysis and systems administration, with a strong focus on building reliable data pipelines, managing databases, improving data quality, and helping teams access the information they need to do their work well. This role will work closely across teams to understand business needs, design scalable data structures, and support the flow of data between systems. This person should be comfortable working with databases, reporting tools, and cloud-based data platforms, and must have experience using databases. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys improving processes, solving data problems, and building systems that make information more accurate, accessible, and useful.
Design, build, maintain, and improve data pipelines that support reporting, analysis, operations, and organizational decision making.
Manage and optimize databases to ensure data is accurate, secure, reliable, and accessible to the teams that need it.
Work with Snowflake to organize, transform, query, and manage organizational data.
Support integrations between HXP’s core systems, including CRM, registration, operations, finance, and reporting platforms.
Identify opportunities to improve data flow, reduce manual processes, and increase consistency across systems.
Apply fundamental principles of data architecture, including data modeling, data governance, data quality, scalability, documentation, and security.
Collaborate with team members to understand reporting needs and design data structures that support clear, useful insights.
Create and maintain documentation for databases, pipelines, data definitions, integrations, and technical processes.
Troubleshoot data issues, investigate inconsistencies, and help resolve problems across connected systems.
Support reporting and analytics work by preparing clean, reliable datasets for use in dashboards, exports, and internal analysis.
Partner with technical and nontechnical team members to improve how HXP collects, stores, organizes, and uses data.
Help maintain system reliability by monitoring database performance, data loads, scheduled processes, and related technical workflows.
Experience with applying database theory is required.
General knowledge of core data architecture principles, including data modeling, database design, data warehousing, ETL or ELT processes, data governance, and system integration.
Experience working with databases is required. Experience with Snowflake is a plus.
Ability to write code is required (any language).
Experience building, maintaining, or improving data pipelines is required.
Experience managing databases, including structure, performance, access, security, and data quality.
Ability to analyze data issues, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions.
Experience working with and collaborating with others on projects, ideally leveraging tools such as Git, although Google Sheets and Google Collab can also demonstrate competence.
Strong SQL skills and the ability to write and troubleshoot queries.
Experience working with structured data from multiple systems or platforms.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, consistent, well documented work.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to team members with different levels of technical experience.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and follow through on technical projects.
Familiarity with data visualization, reporting, CRM systems, APIs, or automation tools is preferred.
Experience with visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, Google Looker, or similar tools is a plus.
