We are seeking a detail-oriented and solutions-driven Data Analytics Specialist to join our team. Under managerial direction, you will lead data integration and advanced analysis projects to uncover insights that directly influence strategic decisions and help us meet our agency's goals and objectives. You will work closely with business leaders, IT professionals, and subject matter experts to identify complex problems and drive data-informed decisions through powerful analytics, visualizations, and predictive models.
Key Responsibilities
Data Integration & Access
Integrate data from multiple systems and sources (e.g., internal databases, shared data lakes, purchased datasets)
Extract and prepare data using tools such as report generators, data query tools, and versioning systems
Coordinate with IT and business teams to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and relevance
Analytics & Insights
Apply statistical and machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, clustering, classification) to identify patterns, trends, and relationships
Develop and operationalize predictive models and algorithms
Visualize complex data in accessible formats for non-technical audiences
Strategic Decision Support
Translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations
Present insights and proposals to agency leadership and stakeholders
Guide program evaluations, resource allocation decisions, fraud detection strategies, and more
Collaboration & Communication
Partner with business leaders to define priorities, metrics, and success criteria
Participate in code reviews, user acceptance testing, and deployment discussions with IT staff
Provide training and support to business staff on analytical tools and methodologies
Process Improvement & Documentation
Establish performance metrics and monitor progress toward goals
Document best practices and maintain records of projects and data models
Stay current with analytics trends, tools, and industry best practices
General Duties
Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences as needed
Produce reports, data analysis, correspondence, and documentation
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the team lead or manager
Pay Information
Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be step 1 of the salary range associated with this position. New hires advance to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Based on collective bargaining and legislative activity, there may be cost of living increases awarded annually. Additional longevity supplements begin after 5 years. The current wage progression for this position is in the table below.
