We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Defense Platform Security Engineer (Microsoft) to join our Cyber Defense team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and optimizing Microsoft's enterprise security platforms and services to protect critical business systems, data, and operations from evolving cyber threats.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise across the Microsoft security stack, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Purview, Exchange Online, Key Vault, Azure Virtual Desktop, and related technologies. This engineer will play a critical role in strengthening the organization's security posture through secure architecture, automation, threat detection, incident response support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office at least three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX or Austin, TX.

What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience.
5 years of experience administering, securing, and supporting enterprise Microsoft cloud and security technologies.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft security platforms and services, including:
Microsoft 365
Microsoft Entra ID
Microsoft Azure
Exchange Online
Microsoft Purview
Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
Azure Key Vault
Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
Microsoft Defender Security Solutions
Experience implementing and managing identity and access management controls, including Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Zero Trust principles.
Proficiency in automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, or Bash to streamline security operations and improve operational efficiency.
Knowledge of Microsoft security architecture, cloud security principles, and enterprise security best practices.
Experience monitoring, investigating, and responding to security alerts, incidents, and operational issues within Microsoft environments.
Familiarity with vulnerability management, security assessments, configuration reviews, and remediation activities.
Strong understanding of information security frameworks and regulatory requirements, including NIST, ISO 27001, SOX, and PCI DSS.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex security challenges.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively partner with technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft security certifications such as:
SC-100: Cybersecurity Architect Expert
SC-200: Security Operations Analyst Associate
SC-300: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
SC-400: Information Protection Administrator Associate
AZ-500: Azure Security Engineer Associate
Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Security Copilot, Defender XDR, and security automation technologies.
Experience supporting incident response, threat hunting, digital forensics, and security investigations.
Knowledge of cloud governance, security monitoring, compliance management, and enterprise-scale Microsoft environments.
Experience participating in security architecture reviews, security transformation initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing cybersecurity team.
