Position Summary
Counsel, Miscellaneous E&O and Management Liability is responsible for the handling, management, and oversight of complex primary and excess Miscellaneous E&O and Management Liability claims, including Employment Practices and Fiduciary claims. The position reports to the Senior Counsel of Managed Care E&O & Miscellaneous E&O Claims.
Required Qualifications
- Manage complex E&O and Management Liability claims including verifying coverage, conducting investigations, evaluating liability and damages, and developing resolution strategies
- Effectively analyze, formulate and communicate coverage positions and decisions
- Ensure all claims are managed in accordance with claims department service standards
- Set appropriate and timely reserves
- Assist underwriters with prospective business opportunities
- Work with attorneys, brokers, and insureds regarding the proactive handling and resolution of complex claims
- Prepare reports and other communications on potential exposure both within reposting structure and for other departments (e.g. underwriting and actuarial) and company management
- Develop and maintain a panel of qualified business-specific vendors, defense and coverage attorneys
Additional Qualifications
- 3 - 5 years of claims experience
- Prior management experience
- JD degree preferred
- Superior analytical abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Compensation $120k+ (based on experience) plus bonus
