A well-established and growing California-based healthcare organization is seeking a Controller to serve as a key member of the Finance leadership team, reporting directly to the CFO. This is a highly visible role responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and team leadership within a complex healthcare environment.

What You'll Be Responsible For
- Leading all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, treasury, fixed assets, and financial close processes
- Overseeing the preparation of GAAP financial statements, regulatory filings, and management reporting
- Establishing and maintaining strong internal controls and accounting policies
- Managing annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
- Coordinating internal, external, and regulatory audits
- Partnering cross-functionally with executive leadership, operational teams, and external stakeholders
- Evaluating and implementing new accounting guidance and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Collaborating with actuarial and finance teams on reimbursement, rate-setting, and healthcare finance initiatives
- Developing, mentoring, and leading a high-performing accounting team
Ideal Background
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA strongly preferred
- 5+ years of leadership experience overseeing accounting and financial reporting functions
- Experience within health plans, managed care organizations, healthcare providers, hospitals, or other regulated healthcare environments
- Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement models, government-sponsored programs, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, audit management, budgeting, and forecasting
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive process improvements in a complex organization
