Job Description and Duties

Under general supervision of the Administrator the Consultant performs the following:

Grant Funded Programs - Under the direction of the Grants Administrator, provide oversight of the implementation of state-funded grant programs administered by the Commission including, but not limited to, the Student Teacher Stipend Program, the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification Program, and other grant programs administered by the Commission, as well as any associated subgrant process within these grant programs.

This work includes assisting the Administrator in developing the Grants Management System for all Commission administered grants, developing Requests for Applications (RFAs); posting RFAs; collecting applications; assisting the Administrator in reviewing applications; assuring that grantees are carrying out the provisions of their funded applications on time and on budget; assisting the Administrator in developing data requirements for grantee reporting; developing and implementing data reporting processes from grantees, analyzing and reporting data submitted by grantees; assuring that grantees provide required reports as specified in the authorizing legislation; managing fiscal documents and processes under direction from the Administrator and Business and Fiscal Services; developing agenda items for the Commission to update the Commission on the progress of the implementation of these grants; and other processes and/or grant management-related responsibilities as assigned.

Department Information

The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is an agency in the Executive Branch of California State Government. It was created in 1970 by the Ryan Act and is the oldest of the autonomous state standards boards in the nation. The major purpose of the agency is to serve as a state standards board for educator preparation for the public schools of California, the licensing and credentialing of professional educators in the State, the enforcement of professional practices of educators, and the discipline of credential holders in the State of California.

The Commission on Teacher Credentialing headquarters office is located in Sacramento; however, an alternate work location outside of Sacramento will be considered.

Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the temporary Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee receive a temporary reduction in pay in exchange for PLP 2025 leave credits. The temporary salary reduction percentage and the number of PLP 2025 leave credits are based on the position's associated bargaining unit. The salary range(s) included in this job advertisement do not include the temporary salary reduction.
