We foster a culture where people who are humble, hungry, and smart are truly valued, supported, and promoted from within. Sabey is deeply committed to being a responsible community partner, returning unused energy to grids and collaborating with local utilities for sustainable impact. While competitors may offer higher salaries, few can match Sabey's positive culture, purpose-driven mission, and long-term career growth opportunities.

About this role:

As Compliance Director, you will provide strategic leadership for Sabey Data Centers' enterprise compliance framework, ensuring that policies, controls, risk management practices, and audit programs evolve alongside a rapidly growing business. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Operations, you'll have the opportunity to influence organization-wide priorities, advise executive leadership, and establish a sustainable approach to compliance that goes beyond meeting audit requirements.

This is a highly visible, cross-functional leadership role where you'll collaborate with Operations, Engineering, IT, Legal, Sales, and other business partners to strengthen accountability, anticipate emerging risks, and embed compliance into everyday business decisions. You'll also lead and develop compliance talent while identifying opportunities to leverage technology, analytics, and AI to make the program more efficient and effective.

How you will spend your time:

  • Lead and continuously advance Sabey Data Centers' enterprise compliance strategy, governance framework, and risk management practices to support business growth and evolving regulatory and customer expectations.
  • Establish scalable policies, controls, accountability structures, and reporting processes that integrate compliance into day-to-day operations across multiple facilities and business functions.
  • Provide executive leadership and, as appropriate, the Board with meaningful visibility into compliance performance, emerging risks, audit readiness, control effectiveness, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee internal, external, regulatory, and customer audits involving frameworks such as SOC 1, SOC 2, HIPAA/HITECH, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001, building a culture of continuous audit readiness.
  • Partner with business and control owners to assess control effectiveness, identify gaps, manage findings, and drive timely corrective actions.
  • Establish and monitor compliance KPIs, key risk indicators (KRIs), and program health metrics to measure effectiveness and inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Sales, Operations, and IT to support customer due diligence, contractual commitments, RFP responses, and customer assurance requests.
  • Monitor emerging regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements, translating potential impacts into actionable business recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, analytics, and AI to strengthen compliance monitoring, evidence management, reporting, and program efficiency.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop compliance team members while building the capabilities and organizational structure needed to support continued growth.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, fostering a culture of shared accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and proactive risk management.
  • Partner with Training and functional leaders to strengthen role-based compliance education and awareness across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Compliance, Information Technology, Risk Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in compliance, audit, governance, risk management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated success leading and maturing compliance programs, including strategy development, governance, audit oversight, cross-functional controls, and team leadership.
  • Experience with applicable compliance frameworks such as SOC 1, SOC 2, HIPAA/HITECH, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, or comparable standards.
  • Proven ability to oversee internal and external audits, evaluate control effectiveness, manage findings, and drive corrective actions.
  • Experience advising senior leaders and translating complex compliance requirements and risks into clear, actionable business recommendations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across technical, operational, and business functions.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in data centers, critical infrastructure, technology, or another highly regulated environment.
  • Experience developing or scaling enterprise compliance programs within a growing or evolving organization.
  • Familiarity with critical facility systems, including electrical, mechanical, and building controls infrastructure.
  • Experience establishing compliance performance metrics, risk indicators, and executive-level reporting.
  • Interest in leveraging emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve compliance processes and operational efficiency.
