    Job Summary:

    This position works under the general supervision of a Community Corrections Group Supervisor (CCGS). It provides oversight of the daily operations within a specific unit with subordinates to which they are assigned.

    Job Duties:

    -Provides oversight of daily operations within a specific unit through subordinates
    -Serves as the designated back up supervisor of a metropolitan parole office in the absence of the Community Corrections Group Supervisor
    -Recommends warrants and placement or release of jail holds; arrest and take community supervision violators into custody
    -Ensures compliance with statutory laws and agency policy and procedures
    -Assigns cases, reviews work and makes recommendations of work assignments for staff
    -Functions as a field training officer (FTO) for Community Corrections offices
    -Evaluates and assesses staff attendance, performance and provides input on career development assessments, evaluations and feedback on periodic and annual basis
    -Provides timely and appropriate case management to adult offenders
    -Attends staff meetings and various training
    -Drives on State business, to include out of state travel
    -Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

    Knowledge of:
    -Applicable Federal, State and agency laws, rules, policies, and procedures governing adult community corrections and due process
    -Arizona Criminal Code and/or criminal/civil court and administrative hearing procedures
    -Principles, methods and techniques of investigating, surveillance, interviewing and paraprofessional counseling
    -Techniques and methods of caseload management
    -Principles of modern psychology and sociology
    -Cultural and socioeconomic differences and effects on human behavior
    -Management and supervisory practices
    -Application of evidence-based community risk and needs models

    Skill in:
    -Verbal and written communication
    -Establishing and maintaining effective working relationship
    -Conducting investigations, searches, surveillance and interviews
    -Managing caseloads and assisting in proper management of all caseloads of a parole office
    -Crisis intervention
    -Interpreting and applying Arizona Criminal Code and applicable laws, rules and policies
    -Performing management/administrative tasks

    Ability to:
    -Plan, assess, organize, direct, and coordinate activities in assigned area
    -Evaluate, prioritize and handle multiple tasks, projects and demands
    -Apply leadership principles to area of assignment
    -Supervise, train and evaluate staff
    -Complete and pass all mandatory training including, Core Competency testing

    Selective Preference(s):

    -Two (2) years of experience as a Community Corrections Officer with the Arizona Department of Corrections or equivalent work experience
    -A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or must be enrolled in a program of study at an accredited university or college at the time of application

    Must attend and complete the Corrections Officer Training Academy (COTA) and the Community Corrections Officer Training Academy

    Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

    In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
