For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States.

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

Duration

This position is funded for up to 378 total hours.

Writing Samples

Candidates will be invited to provide at least three professional writing samples that show versatility, such as feature stories, promotional brochures, and outreach or educational materials.

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in communications, English, or related with minimum additional experience of 20 year(s)

  • Skills in communication, specifically website and web content development for the public. Knowledge of building partnerships between federal agencies.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat
  • Common Spot (website platform)
Duties:

This position will support the NPS ? Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance (NPS-RTCA) Communications Team in developing informative and engaging articles, newsletters, briefing memos, and social media posts that highlight the program?s projects across the country. This position will also provide communications support for the Groundwork Program and the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

  • Assist in writing articles and content for newsletters, websites, and external publications. Responsibilities include collecting information through research and interviews with project managers and partners. This work requires collaborating with the editor to ensure all written content follows the program?s editorial style and following up with project managers to ensure all content is accurate.   40%
  • Assist in developing promotional and educational materials to improve public understanding of NPS-RTCA, LWCF, and Groundwork. Responsibilities include translating complex program information into clear, accurate, and persuasive content for internal and external audiences, and collaborating with project managers and partners to ensure materials effectively communicate program accomplishments and impacts. This work also includes developing communications plans and identifying strategies to distribute content across platforms to reach new audiences and increase engagement.   40%
  • Assist in developing briefing materials to increase leadership awareness of NPS-RTCA, Groundwork, and LWCF. This work requires an understanding of presidential initiatives and priorities related to gateway communities, Tribal partnerships, natural disaster recovery, the outdoor recreation economy, and conservation.   20%
