What You Will Accomplish in This Role
The Communications Specialist II is responsible for executing high-quality product communications in support of DT&Is large, complex product portfolio. This role focuses on the development, production, distribution, and maintenance of communications assets that support product awareness, understanding, and adoption among HCA Healthcare internal stakeholders. Working in close partnership with the Communications Manager, the DT&I Product Change Management team, and product owners, the Communications Specialist II translates complex technical, data-driven, and operational concepts into clear, plain-language messaging that supports behavior change and people readiness. This role primarily serves as an execution partner, managing multiple communications deliverables simultaneously across products in various stages of the lifecycle while ensuring consistency with DT&I priorities and enterprise messaging standards.
What You Will Do in This Role
• Supports the planning, development, execution, and optimization of communication efforts for DT&I products, initiatives, and transformation programs. • Manages communications operations, including distribution lists, vendor coordination, e.g., videographers, documentation of deliverables, and tracking of communications activity. • Partners closely with the Communications Manager to oversee the weekly development, coordination, and distribution of communications, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with DT&I priorities and enterprise messaging standards. • Executes communications projects from intake and planning through execution and post-launch evaluation, supporting digital transformation, innovation initiatives, and change management efforts across DT&I. • Serves as a communications partner to DT&I product owners and initiative leads by translating complex technical or operational concepts into clear, compelling, audience-focused messaging. • Develops and executes communication plans in collaboration with the Communications Manager and Product Change Team, aligning messaging to change milestones, adoption goals, and stakeholder needs. • Creates, writes, edits, and proofs high-quality content across multiple channels, e.g., email, flyers, video scripts, presentation decks, FAQs, executive communications, and meeting materials, ensuring adherence to brand voice, editorial, and compliance standards. • Manages communication intake, scope, timelines, and prioritization for assigned initiatives, proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities to improve clarity and impact. • Supports tracking and documentation of communication effectiveness and provides insights and recommendations to improve effectiveness and stakeholder engagement. • Maintains awareness of emerging communication tools, digital platforms, and AI-assisted content development technologies, applying them appropriately and in accordance with enterprise guidelines. • Supports continuous improvement of DT&I communication processes, templates, and best practices.
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field - Required • 4 years of relevant experience in communications - Required • Background in healthcare communications, corporate, internal communications, or experience in a healthcare setting - Preferred • Knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors:
• Experienced professional with a passion for healthcare communications and an eye for innovation • Creative and self-motivated with excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment • Ability to take creative direction and constructive feedback • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills • Strong ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, review, and create compelling messages, and manage multiple projects • Experience in change management or leading communications through major organizational change • Associated Press writing style • Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite • Highly adaptable to re-prioritization of projects as needed • Working knowledge of emerging communication technologies, e.g., ChatGPT, etc. • Manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks • Utilize excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills • Demonstrated ability to extract nuanced information from subject matter experts and articulate complex concepts in clear language
