Commercial Relationship Manager – Path to Market President
A well-established community financial institution is seeking an experienced Commercial Relationship Manager for its Lebanon, Tennessee market. This position is designed as a succession opportunity, with the successful Relationship Manager positioned to advance into the Market President role based on performance and continued growth of the market.
This individual will be responsible for driving commercial loan production, developing new business, expanding existing relationships, and building a strong presence throughout Lebanon and the surrounding Middle Tennessee market.
The ideal candidate will be an established commercial lender with a proven local book of business, strong community relationships, and a successful track record in loan production, portfolio management, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new commercial banking relationships through calling efforts, networking, referrals, and community involvement.
- Maintain a strong, visible presence throughout the Lebanon and surrounding Middle Tennessee business community.
- Originate and grow commercial loans, deposits, and treasury management relationships.
- Generate new business from prospective clients, existing portfolio relationships, and referral sources.
- Interview borrowers, identify financing needs, collect financial information, and prepare loan applications.
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, collateral, credit history, and overall borrower creditworthiness.
- Structure commercial loan requests based on client needs, cash flow, collateral, risk, and credit strength.
- Prepare and present commercial loan requests for approval.
- Manage loan requests through underwriting, approval, documentation, and closing while maintaining strong client communication.
- Manage and grow an assigned commercial loan portfolio while identifying opportunities to expand relationships.
- Complete annual reviews, covenant monitoring, renewals, exception clearing, risk-rating assessments, and other portfolio management responsibilities.
- Monitor borrower performance and loan repayment activity and address issues when necessary.
- Maintain compliance with lending policies, Fair Lending requirements, and applicable state and federal banking regulations.
- Partner with Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Retail Banking, and Treasury Management to provide a strong client experience.
- Develop referral relationships with CPAs, attorneys, developers, appraisers, real estate professionals, business owners, and community leaders.
- Represent the financial institution professionally within the local market and maintain high standards of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
Qualifications
- 4–6+ years of commercial lending experience.
- Proven ability to originate, manage, and grow a commercial loan portfolio.
- Demonstrated history of commercial loan production and relationship growth.
- Established relationships and a proven book of business in the Lebanon/Middle Tennessee market strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial credit, underwriting, financial statement analysis, global cash flow, collateral evaluation, and loan structuring.
- Strong business development, networking, and relationship-management skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, analytical, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple clients, loan opportunities, and portfolio responsibilities.
- College education preferred.
