Junior Litigation Attorney – Commercial Litigation

Sul Lee Law Firm is seeking a Junior Litigation Attorney with at least 2 years of litigation experience to join our commercial litigation practice.

Our firm operates through a pod system, where a junior attorney works closely with a senior attorney, paralegal, and legal assistant. The junior attorney plays a substantive, hands-on role in the matters assigned to the pod—not simply completing isolated research or drafting assignments.

Junior Attorneys typically work on approximately 5–20 active matters, depending on complexity. This structure allows our attorneys to learn their cases deeply, understand the clients and underlying businesses, master the facts and evidence, and meaningfully participate in developing and executing litigation strategy.

What You'll Do

• Develop a detailed understanding of the facts, documents, parties, and legal issues in assigned cases;

• Draft substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence;

• Conduct legal research and assist in developing litigation and discovery strategy;

• Draft and respond to written discovery;

• Review and analyze document productions and identify key evidence;

• Assist with deposition preparation and take depositions as experience develops;

• Participate in client communications, strategy discussions, and communications with opposing counsel;

• Assist with temporary injunction hearings, dispositive motions, mediations, and trial preparation;

• Work closely with the Senior Attorney to manage cases from initial pleadings through discovery, settlement, dispositive motions, and trial; and

• Progressively assume greater responsibility for cases as experience and judgment develop.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 2 years of litigation experience required;

• Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas;

• Commercial or business litigation experience preferred;

• Experience drafting pleadings, substantive motions, and written discovery;

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills;

• Ability and willingness to learn the factual details of a case—not simply the legal issues;

• Organized, responsive, and comfortable taking ownership of assignments;

• Comfortable working collaboratively with a Senior Attorney and litigation support team; and

• Desire to develop into an attorney capable of independently managing clients and litigation matters.

Our practice primarily involves commercial and business litigation, including breach of contract, partnership and ownership disputes, fiduciary-duty claims, business breakups, construction disputes, and other disputes involving privately held businesses.

We believe attorneys become strong litigators by actually working on cases. Rather than touching a small piece of a large number of matters, our Junior Attorneys are expected to know their cases and become a meaningful part of the team handling them.

Junior Attorneys receive direct exposure to clients, case strategy, discovery, depositions, hearings, mediation, substantive motion practice, and trial preparation while working closely with experienced litigators.

Our goal is to develop Junior Attorneys into attorneys who can eventually independently manage matters, develop junior team members, and lead their own litigation pod.

$130,000 - $150,000 yearly plus bonus DOE

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the facts, documents, parties, and legal issues in your assigned cases.

• Draft substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence to effectively advocate for clients.

• Conduct thorough legal research and assist in crafting strategic litigation and discovery plans.

• Draft and respond to written discovery requests, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Review and analyze document productions to identify key evidence that supports case strategies.

• Assist with deposition preparation and progressively take on deposition responsibilities as your experience grows.

• Engage in client communications, strategy discussions, and maintain professional interactions with opposing counsel to advance case objectives effectively and ethically.
