Description

The Commercial Banker will support the growth and management of middle-market and corporate banking relationships. This position will be responsible for credit underwriting, portfolio management, client support, and business development activities across commercial lending products, primarily focused on non-real estate operating companies.

Description

Business Development & Underwriting

  • Support origination efforts by identifying and developing commercial banking opportunities within the middle-market and corporate client segment.
  • Assist with prospect outreach, client onboarding, and account opening activities in coordination with operational and compliance teams.
  • Analyze credit opportunities by evaluating financial performance, cash flow, industry trends, collateral positions, and overall risk profile.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit memoranda and recommendation packages for approval.
  • Conduct industry and market research to identify new lending and relationship opportunities.
  • Participate in networking events and client meetings to promote banking products and develop new business relationships.
  • Contribute toward business development and portfolio growth objectives established by management.

Portfolio Management & Client Service

  • Support ongoing management of a commercial loan portfolio, ensuring compliance with credit approval conditions and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor borrower financial performance and identify emerging risks through financial statement analysis, covenant tracking, and portfolio reviews.
  • Coordinate the collection and review of financial statements, tax returns, insurance documentation, and other required client information.
  • Assist in preparing annual reviews, periodic portfolio assessments, and risk monitoring reports.
  • Conduct client meetings and site visits as needed to support portfolio oversight.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by delivering responsive service and identifying opportunities to deepen banking relationships.
  • Address client inquiries and service-related issues in a timely and professional manner.

Risk & Compliance

  • Partner with compliance and onboarding teams to support due diligence, KYC, and AML requirements for new and existing clients.
  • Identify, monitor, and escalate credit, operational, and compliance risks as appropriate.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and sound banking practices.
  • Participate in special projects, departmental initiatives, and other assignments as needed.
  • Provide support for strategic initiatives and process improvement efforts across the corporate banking platform.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in commercial banking, corporate banking, credit analysis, or commercial lending.
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit underwriting and financial statement analysis.
  • Experience evaluating middle-market and non-investment-grade corporate borrowers preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending structures, risk assessment, and portfolio management practices.
  • Familiarity with KYC, AML, regulatory compliance, and due diligence processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Mandarin preferred but not required.
