As a Collision Mechanical Technician at Norm Reeves, you are a key member of our collision center team. You will specialize in diagnosing and repairing the mechanical, electrical, and safety systems of collision-damaged vehicles to ensure they are restored to OEM standards. Working alongside estimators, body technicians, and shop management, you'll help deliver safe, high-quality repairs and an exceptional customer experience. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical diagnostic skills, takes pride in quality workmanship, maintains a clean and safe work environment, and performs every repair with honesty, integrity, and attention to detail.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform mechanical, electrical, and systems repairs on collision-damaged vehicles.
- Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical and electrical damage.
- Remove and reinstall engines, transmissions, suspension, brake, cooling, and HVAC components.
- Diagnose and repair wiring, sensors, and electrical systems.
- Replace and service SRS (airbag) components following OEM procedures.
- Reassemble vehicles and perform final testing to ensure factory specifications are met.
- Collaborate with estimators, body technicians, and shop management throughout the repair process.
- Accurately document repairs and communicate findings.
- Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to OEM and dealership quality standards.
- Focus exclusively on mechanical and electrical collision repairs (no bodywork or painting).
What You’ll Need:
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience (suspension, brakes, drivetrain)
- Automotive electrical diagnostics, wiring repair, and use of multimeter/scan tools
- Experience removing/reinstalling engines, transmissions, and heavy components
- Knowledge of SRS/airbag procedures and safe handling of safety systems
- Familiarity with collision-related repairs and OEM repair procedures/specs
- Ability to document repairs and communicate findings to estimators/foreman
- Physical ability to lift, work under vehicles, and use lifts/hoists safely
- Valid certifications preferred: ASE (relevant areas), EPA 609 (A/C), and ADAS or OEM collision mechanical training (if applicable)
