Coding Doc Educator

Job Requirements

Position Summary

Serves as Coding Educator of ICD 10, ICD 10 PCS, & CPT for the SRHS District. Serves a liaison between providers and coders. Provides education /in-services in training with regard to ICD 10 and CPT coding. Assists with coding/billing/charging questions and edits. Analyzes clinical documentation to ensure clear, thorough documentation that accurately reflects the patient diagnosis/es, procedures, DRG and APC assignment. Works close with Coding Manager, CDI/IP Supervisor to trend and develop appropriate educational programs. Assists with coding volumes if requested by coding Manager or Director.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Associates Degree in HIM or related field

Experience

• 5 + years of experience required at Tertiary / Acute Care Teaching Hospital

License/Registration/Certifications

• CCS ( Certified Coding Specialist) or CPC , or RHIT

Preferred Requirements

Preferred Education

• BS, Masters, or Doctorate

Preferred Experience

• 10 Years of experience at tertiary teaching acute care hospital in IP and CDI

Preferred License/Registration/Certifications

• RHIT/CCS, CCS-P
