Express Employment Professionals (Lynchburg) is recruiting a seasoned CNC Machinist for a well-established manufacturer in the Madison Heights area. In this hands-on role, you’ll transform raw stock into high-accuracy components within a fast-paced manufacturing environment—meeting exact specifications and upholding rigorous quality and production standards.
A Day in the Shop
You arrive, review the day’s prints, set up your CNC lathe or mill, verify tooling, and run first-article inspections with micrometers and calipers. You tweak offsets, make programming edits when needed, and keep a close eye on tolerances throughout the run. When an issue pops up, you troubleshoot quickly to keep production on track and quality intact. You wrap the day by performing routine maintenance and leaving the work area organized and safe.
What You’ll Handle
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and related equipment to produce precision components
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements
- Make CNC program edits, adjust machine settings, and perform tooling changes as needed
- Conduct dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Monitor operations to ensure parts meet strict tolerances and quality standards
- Identify and resolve machining issues to minimize downtime and sustain throughput
- Complete routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized workstation
- Follow established safety procedures and quality control practices
What You Bring
- Hands-on experience with CNC mills, lathes, or comparable machining equipment
- Ability to read and apply blueprints, technical drawings, and machining specifications
- Proficiency in making program edits, setting up tooling, and dialing in offsets
- Skilled with precision metrology tools: calipers, micrometers, gauges
- Solid understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, and tight-tolerance work
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability
- Comfort working independently and within a production team setting
- Dependable, detail-focused, and committed to safety and quality
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: $22–$30 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
