Founded more than five decades ago and based in Racine, Wisconsin, we manufacture precision shot-end tooling for the die-casting industry, including shot sleeves, plunger rods, plunger tips, and nozzles. We serve automotive, small-engine, furniture, and lighting/electrical markets, handling virtually all manufacturing and finishing operations in-house. Our focus is producing dependable tooling with short lead times and extending its useful life through refurbishment services.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Independently set up and operate assigned CNC equipment to manufacture precision tooling components.

Read engineering drawings and job specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes, and machining requirements.

Install and align workholding, select cutting tools, and establish tool and work offsets.

Perform turning, boring, drilling, and related operations as required by the assigned equipment and component.

Verify setups through safe prove-outs and first-piece inspection before continuing production.

Inspect outside diameters, internal bores, lengths, and other critical features using micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and appropriate measuring tools.

Adjust offsets, feeds, speeds, and tooling to address dimensional variation, tool wear, chatter, and surface-finish issues.

Make approved program edits within the scope of training and authorization.

Support tooling refurbishment and coordinate with honing or other finishing operations as assigned.

Record inspection results and job information, identify nonconforming parts, and communicate production issues.

Perform routine machine care and maintain safe, organized work areas.

Qualifications — Needed

Demonstrated CNC machining experience sufficient to independently complete setups and run parts to specification.

Strong background in CNC turning, including tooling selection, workholding, and offset adjustments.

Ability to read blueprints and interpret dimensions, tolerances, and surface-finish requirements.

Proficiency with micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and other precision inspection tools.

Proven ability to inspect first pieces and maintain dimensional consistency throughout a production run.

Ability to troubleshoot machining issues involving tool wear, chatter, workholding, and dimensional variation.

Working knowledge of G-code and the ability to make basic, approved edits.

Machining coursework, trade-school training, or an apprenticeship is a plus; equivalent hands-on experience should be considered.

Preferred:

Experience machining precision cylindrical components or tooling.

Boring, honing, or tooling refurbishment experience.

Familiarity with GD&T.

Experience with die-cast tooling, shot sleeves, plunger components, or similar products.
