Job TitleClient AttorneyDepartmentLegalReports ToLegal DirectorSalary$80,000 - $95,000FLSA StatusExemptClassificationFull-TimeEffectiveJuly 2026WCA MissionAssisting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and stalking and their children to achieve safety and empowering them to lead self‑determined lives.SummarySeeking attorney to provide legal services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking including assistance with divorce, custody, child support, protection orders, and other legal issues.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesRepresent clients in Douglas County domestic relations and protection order casesProvide competent, diligent and trauma‑informed representation to clients on individual caseloadConduct legal interviews and provide on‑the‑spot legal adviceProvide competent and trauma‑informed representation or consultation to self‑represented clientsMaintain accurate and contemporaneous client documentation and timekeeping practicesConduct legal researchSupport development of WCA Legal Program and Legal Assistance for Victims (LAV) grant implementationEngage in effective collaboration with other WCA programs and community partnersProvide outreach regarding WCA clients and servicesComplete internal continuing education and Nebraska CLE requirementsOther duties may be assigned.Education/ExperienceJuris Doctor (JD) degree and license to practice law in the state of Nebraska required. Minimum two (2) years of legal practice as a licensed attorney required.Preferred ExperienceProtection order, domestic relations and/or civil litigation experience;Experience with T‑visa, U‑visa, VAWA relief and/or Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases;Representing clients who have experienced abuse/trauma, clients with limited resources and/or clients who are Limited English Proficient (LEP);WCA also strongly values the personal, lived experience of individuals from all backgrounds.QualificationsUnderstanding of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking issues.Ability to work with a diverse client population and cultural backgrounds.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.Attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.Strong organizational and time management skills.Strong presentation and public speaking skills.Good working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet and database programs.Ability to operate standard office equipment.Regular and predictable attendance required.Responsible for providing own transportation to meet with clients and other community providers.Ability to work a varied schedule.Maintain confidentiality standards of the organization and in accordance with HIPPA standards.Commitment to the mission of the Women's Center for Advancement.Strong preference will be given to applicants who are bi‑lingualPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
