Civil Construction Estimator

Our client is seeking a Heavy Civil Estimator with 5+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience to join our team. We're looking for an estimator who understands how heavy civil projects are built, not simply how to put together a bid. This position reports to the Chief Estimator and will work closely with Operations, Project Management and company leadership on active pursuits.

Client Details

Our client is a privately owned, fourth-generation heavy civil construction company. Our work spans roads and bridges, utilities, marine, environmental, rail and transit, energy and industrial infrastructure.

The estimator is involved from the beginning -reviewing opportunities, understanding the scope, developing the estimate, working through constructability and pricing, and helping determine how we pursue the work.

Description

• · Review plans, specifications, addenda and contract documents
• · Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop complete estimates
• · Price labor, materials, equipment, trucking and subcontractor work
• · Solicit, analyze and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing
• · Evaluate project scope, risks, constructability and means/methods
• · Develop competitive bids, bid schedules and proposal documents
• · Attend pre-bid meetings and project/site visits
• · Coordinate with Operations and Project Management on pricing and constructability
• · Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options
• · Meet bid deadlines and maintain accurate estimating documentation

Profile

A successful Civil Construction Estimator should have:

• · Highway, roadway, bridge, utility, sitework, paving, marine, rail/transit or environmental construction
• · Public works and DOT projects
• · NJ, NY or PA construction markets
• · HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, Bluebeam, B2W, Procore or similar
• · Prevailing wage and public bidding requirements
• · Value engineering and alternative construction methods

Job Offer

· $90,000 - $160,000 annually, based on experience
