CI/CD Automation EngineerPosition OverviewWe are seeking a CI/CD Automation Engineer to help modernize and automate application testing, patching, and deployment processes. This role will focus heavily on building automated test frameworks and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines to reduce manual effort, improve deployment quality, and streamline the patching process.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Playwright, CI/CD automation, and Ansible, along with experience working in containerized environments. Candidates should understand how modern Java and React applications function well enough to develop and execute effective automated test scripts, but do not need to be application developers.

Must-Have Skills

• Strong hands-on CI/CD automation experience, including designing, maintaining, and improving deployment pipelines.
• Playwright experience is REQUIRED - significant hands-on experience creating and maintaining automated UI test scripts.
• Experience with test automation frameworks/tools, preferably including Cucumber, Playwright, or similar UI automation frameworks.
• Strong Ansible experience, including the ability to independently write, develop, and maintain Ansible playbooks rather than simply execute existing playbooks.
• Strong Python skills for automation, scripting, and test development.
• Experience automating patching and deployment processes and integrating automated testing into those workflows.
• Experience working with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift and applications running in containerized environments.
• Understanding of environments containing both containerized services and traditional VM-based workloads, including Windows and RHEL/Linux.
• Working knowledge of applications built with Java and React, with enough understanding of application behavior and architecture to develop appropriate automated test scripts.
• Ability to develop automated tests that validate applications following patching, deployments, and infrastructure changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain automated testing frameworks integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop Playwright-based UI automation to validate application functionality after deployments and patching.
• Automate testing processes to reduce manual validation and improve deployment confidence.
• Write and maintain Ansible playbooks to automate patching, configuration, and deployment activities.
• Integrate automated test execution into existing CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop automation that validates applications after patching and deployment activities.
• Help reduce the manual effort and operational risk associated with the current patching process through automation.
• Work with development and infrastructure teams to understand application behavior and determine appropriate automated test coverage.
• Support deployment processes across containerized and VM-based environments.
• Develop Python scripts and other automation as needed to support testing and deployment workflows.
• Troubleshoot failed automated tests, deployments, and pipeline executions.
• Expand automated test coverage for applications utilizing Java and React technologies.

Ideal CandidateThe strongest candidate will be an automation engineer who sits at the intersection of DevOps, CI/CD, and software testing. They should be able to independently write Ansible playbooks, build CI/CD automation, and-most importantly-develop Playwright test automation that can be executed as part of the deployment and patching lifecycle. Experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift and an understanding of Java/React applications will allow them to effectively test modern applications across both containerized and traditional infrastructure environments.
