Certified Payroll Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented payroll compliance professional to support certified payroll reporting for construction projects. This position will work closely with Payroll, project teams, and compliance leadership to ensure labor records are accurate, reporting deadlines are met, and required documentation is maintained.

The ideal candidate brings experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements, along with the ability to investigate discrepancies and coordinate information across multiple projects.

Certified Payroll Compliance Specialist Key Responsibilities

• 
  
• Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports according to project requirements and reporting deadlines.
• 
  
• Verify employee classifications, hours worked, wage rates, and fringe benefits against applicable prevailing wage schedules.
• 
  
• Reconcile certified payroll reports to payroll records and project labor data, researching and resolving discrepancies.
• 
  
• Coordinate with Payroll and project teams to maintain accurate job assignments, labor classifications, and supporting documentation.
• 
  
• Track reporting requirements and outstanding submissions across active projects.
• 
  
• Review subcontractor certified payroll documentation for completeness and flag potential compliance issues for follow-up.
• 
  
• Support apprenticeship reporting and documentation, including applicable requirements for projects subject to the Inflation Reduction Act.
• 
  
• Maintain organized records of wage determinations, certified payroll submissions, corrections, and compliance correspondence.
• 
  
• Assist with requests from customers, auditors, and government agencies by gathering records and supporting responses.
• 
  
• Help improve reporting procedures and identify recurring issues that affect accuracy or timely submission.

Certified Payroll Compliance Specialist Qualifications

• 
  
• Experience preparing certified payroll reports and working with prevailing wage requirements.
• 
  
• Understanding of labor classifications, fringe benefit calculations, and payroll record reconciliation.
• 
  
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage deadlines across multiple projects.
• 
  
• Confidence researching discrepancies and communicating needed corrections.
• 
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with payroll or compliance reporting systems.
• 
  
• Sound judgment when handling confidential employee and payroll information.
• 
  

Certified Payroll Compliance Specialist Preferred Experience

• 
  
• Construction industry payroll or labor compliance experience.
• 
  
• Familiarity with Davis-Bacon requirements and state or local prevailing wage regulations.
• 
  
• Experience with certified payroll reporting platforms.
• 
  
• Knowledge of apprenticeship compliance and Inflation Reduction Act labor requirements.
• 
  
• Experience reviewing subcontractor payroll documentation.
• 
  
• Familiarity with Viewpoint Spectrum or a comparable construction accounting system.
•
