Medical Assistant Float Team
A multisite medical group is seeking a flexible Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support at outpatient offices throughout the Charlotte region. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, adapts quickly, and is comfortable working with different providers, personalities, specialties, and office workflows.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Assignments are typically provided one month in advance.
Compensation: Higher hourly rate based on the float requirements. Mileage is not reimbursed.
Responsibilities
- Travel between assigned medical offices throughout the Charlotte region
- Room patients, obtain histories and vital signs, complete screenings, and document in the EHR
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with examinations and minor procedures
- Administer injections and other approved non-IV medications
- Perform EKGs, venipunctures, capillary sticks, specimen collection, and CLIA-waived testing
- Respond to patient calls, portal messages, pharmacy requests, and medication refills
- Complete medication prior authorizations and reconcile laboratory results
- Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments
- Maintain accurate patient records and obtain outside medical documentation
- Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, restock supplies, and complete required safety logs
- Learn and follow the processes of each assigned office
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Medical Assisting program
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Current American Heart Association or client BLS certification
- At least one year of recent Medical Assistant experience or completion of a medical-office externship
- Experience with EKGs, vital signs, venipuncture, capillary sticks, injections, and EHR documentation
- Reliable transportation and willingness to work at locations throughout the Charlotte region
- Flexible, dependable, and able to pivot when assignments or priorities change
- Comfortable working with a wide range of personalities and team environments
- Eager to learn new skills, workflows, and ways of working
Required health documentation includes a TB screening and Hepatitis B and influenza vaccination records or applicable declination forms.
Candidates must be able to remain active throughout the workday, use a computer for extended periods, and lift or support up to 35 pounds.
