The Youth Permanency and Safety Division has an opportunity to clinically support youth and families within the field of child welfare. These positions have great impact in assuring youth receive the appropriate level of treatment and families have the support needed to maintain youth within their community.

Clinician opportunities ------------------------

  • Congregate Care Unit Clinician
  • CCU serves youth in Idahos child welfare system.
  • CCU clinicians assess a youths needs for treatment and matches them with appropriate congregate treatment settings within Idaho, preferably.
  • The CCU clinician assists the child welfare case managers in developing plans to transition youth to treatment.
  • Once placed, the CCU clinician reviews treatment recommendations with the treatment facility, ensuring the facility has an understanding of the youths needs and the resources to move a youth forward in their healing.

This is a statewide position and will report to their nearest DHW location. The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. Any applicant offered employment in this position at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES --------------------

  • Conducts youth need assessments
  • Matches youth with congregate care treatment programs
  • Assists with youth transition plans
  • Works with treatment providers to develop comprehensive treatment plans that will move a youth to healing and ultimately step down to a lower level of care
  • Documentation
  • Some court involvement at times
  • Attend various MDT staffing
  • Youth Discharge planning and service coordination

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -------------------------

You must possess all the specialty minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum and specialty qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position.

It is highly recommended to attach a one-page cover letter to your application to demonstrate how you meet the requirements below.

A Masters degree or higher in a direct clinical practice, Human Services field is required for this position. Masters degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or very closely related field of study in accordance with Idaho Codes 54-3206, 54-3402, 54-3405, and 54-3214.
