Position Summary: Conducts tests on pulmonary or cardiovascular systems of patients for diagnostic purposes. May conduct or assist in electrocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, pulmonary-functions, lung capacity, and similar tests. Maintains equipment; records test results. Follows department policies and protocols.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned:
Monitors, analyzes, obtains, calculates and documents data obtained in procedures. Alerts physician to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.
Explains testing procedures to patient to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
Prepares reports of diagnostic procedures for interpretation by physician.
Observes gauges, recorder and video screens of data analysis system during imaging of cardiovascular system.
Assists the physician during cardiac cath lab procedures including angioplasty procedures.
Conducts electrocardiogram, phonocardiogram, echocardiogram, stress testing and other cardiovascular tests to record patients' cardiac activity using specialized electronic test equipment, recording devices, and laboratory instruments.
Prepares and positions patients for testing.
Obtains and records patient identification, medical history and test results.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Performs other related duties as required and directed.
