About the Role

A leading creative technology retailer is seeking a Category Merchant to develop and execute category strategies that drive sales, profitability, and long-term growth. This role will manage product assortments, vendor relationships, forecasting, and merchandising initiatives while working closely with internal teams to enhance the customer experience.

The ideal candidate has strong merchandising, buying, and vendor management experience with the ability to identify opportunities and execute strategies that grow the business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute merchandising strategies for assigned product categories.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships while negotiating pricing, programs, and opportunities.
  • Manage product assortment, ensuring the right mix of brands and products.
  • Oversee forecasting, budgeting, and open-to-buy management.
  • Analyze sales performance, market trends, and category opportunities.
  • Optimize product lifecycle from introduction through discontinuation.
  • Collaborate with marketing, eCommerce, retail, and sales teams to drive growth.
  • Improve online merchandising and customer shopping experience.
  • Support content strategy to establish category expertise and increase conversions.
  • Develop promotional strategies to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Identify new business opportunities and create plans for implementation.
  • Present business insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Experience in merchandising, category management, buying, or related retail roles.
  • Strong understanding of merchandising systems and processes.
  • Experience with forecasting, budgeting, and open-to-buy management.
  • Strong vendor negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with eCommerce performance metrics and online merchandising.
  • Ability to analyze sales data and identify growth opportunities.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with product sourcing is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
