Business Systems Analyst (BSA) FHIR/Healthcare Location: Eagan, MN Duration: 1 year
We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst with a strong healthcare background and hands-on experience with FHIR-based integrations. This individual will work with business, product, clinical, and technical teams to define requirements and support the delivery of interoperable healthcare solutions. Key Responsibilities:
Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and technical requirements.
Translate business needs into user stories, process flows, data mappings, and acceptance criteria.
Analyze healthcare workflows involving patients, providers, claims, eligibility, clinical data, or care management.
Define and document FHIR resources, profiles, extensions, bundles, and API requirements.
Support RESTful API integrations and data exchanges between healthcare systems.
Perform source-to-target data mapping involving FHIR, HL7, and other healthcare data formats.
Collaborate with developers, architects, QA teams, product owners, and business stakeholders.
Assist with API testing and validation using tools such as Postman.
Identify requirement gaps, data-quality issues, dependencies, and integration risks.
Support system, integration, regression, and user-acceptance testing.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and product demonstrations.
Ensure solutions comply with HIPAA, privacy, security, and interoperability requirements.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Business Systems Analyst experience.
Healthcare payer, provider, clinical, or health-technology experience.
Hands-on experience with HL7 FHIR standards and RESTful APIs.
Knowledge of common FHIR resources, including Patient, Practitioner, Organization, Encounter, Observation, Condition, Medication, and Coverage.
Experience developing functional requirements, user stories, process flows, and data-mapping documents.
Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Swagger.
Strong understanding of healthcare data, integrations, and interoperability.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with US Core profiles and implementation guides.
Knowledge of HL7 v2, CDA, X12 EDI, SMART on FHIR, or OAuth 2.0.
Familiarity with EHR platforms such as Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, or Meditech.
Experience with FHIR servers, integration engines, or healthcare API platforms.
Understanding of CMS interoperability requirements and related healthcare regulations.
