HWX Enterprises is seeking a motivated, entrepreneurial professional to join our team in a unique hybrid role combining business development, project management, customer account management, and cost estimating.
This position is designed as a growth and succession opportunity. The selected individual will work closely with and be mentored by a highly experienced senior Account Manager / Project Manager / Estimator, gaining hands on exposure to customer relationships, estimating, project execution, and business development.
We are open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds, including individuals who began their careers in the skilled trades, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, construction, automation, tooling, installation, or other technical environments and have developed an interest in the commercial and business side of the industry.
This is not a traditional desk position. The ideal candidate is a self starter who is comfortable picking up the phone, developing relationships, pursuing new opportunities, visiting customers, traveling to project sites, preparing estimates, and taking ownership of projects from initial opportunity through completion.
Develop new business opportunities through outbound calls, networking, referrals, existing relationships, and direct customer outreach.
Identify prospective customers and projects within industrial, manufacturing, aerospace, automation, tooling, maintenance, and related markets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and industry contacts.
Work alongside a senior team member to learn existing customer accounts, estimating practices, project history, and business relationships.
Review customer requirements, drawings, scopes of work, labor requirements, schedules, and other project information.
Assist with developing labor estimates, material estimates, project budgets, proposals, and customer quotations.
Participate in customer meetings, site visits, project walkthroughs, and prebid discussions.
Coordinate and oversee projects after award, including manpower, scheduling, customer communication, costs, and project progress.
Travel to customer and project locations as required.
Monitor project performance and help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Identify additional opportunities with existing customers while actively developing new accounts.
Maintain consistent follow up on leads, quotations, proposals, and prospective customers.
Gradually assume greater responsibility for customer accounts and projects as knowledge and experience are developed.
We are less concerned with a specific job title or traditional career path than we are with finding the right combination of technical aptitude, business drive, and initiative.
A strong candidate may have experience in one or more of the following:
Skilled trades or industrial maintenance
Manufacturing or industrial operations
Mechanical or electrical systems
Automation, tooling, equipment installation, or integration
Construction or field service
Cost estimating or quoting
Project coordination or project management
Account management
Technical sales or business development
Previous estimating, project management, or business development experience is beneficial, but we are willing to develop the right individual who demonstrates strong technical aptitude and the motivation to learn.
The successful candidate will be:
Highly self motivated and comfortable working independently
Entrepreneurial and interested in developing business
Comfortable making outbound calls and initiating conversations with prospective customers
Technically inclined and able to understand industrial projects and customer requirements
Comfortable working in both office and field environments
Willing and able to travel as projects and customer opportunities require
Organized and capable of managing multiple priorities
Comfortable communicating with tradespeople, engineers, plant management, purchasing professionals, and senior executives
Able to develop long term customer relationships rather than simply pursue individual transactions
Interested in learning the financial and commercial aspects of project work
Accountable for following opportunities from initial contact through quotation, award, execution, and completion
This position provides a unique opportunity to learn directly from a senior professional with extensive experience in estimating, project management, account management, and customer development.
Over the next year, the successful candidate will progressively learn and assume responsibility for existing relationships, estimating functions, project responsibilities, and new business development.
The long term objective is to develop this individual into a key member of HWX Enterprises who can independently develop business, estimate opportunities, manage customer relationships, and oversee projects from concept through completion.
Because of the diverse nature of our business, responsibilities will remain fluid and may evolve based on customer requirements, new opportunities, and the strengths of the individual selected.
