DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves the installation, maintenance and repair of computer-based, electronic and electromechanical hospital biomedical equipment at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC). This is a technical position responsible for the maintenance, repair and operation of hospital biomedical equipment and the calibration of mini and micro based computer systems. Work is performed under the general supervision of higher-ranking Biomedical Engineering personnel. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Thorough knowledge of the tools, terminology, procedures and equipment required for the maintenance, repair, operation, testing and calibration of modern complex computer-based monitor systems and electronic equipment; good knowledge of the hazards, applicable safety standards and performance requirements related to hospital instrumentation for patient care; skill in the use of testing and calibration devices such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, digital multimeters and special instrumentation for testing computer based medical instruments; ability to service and repair various types of electronic and electromechanical equipment; ability to read and interpret electric and electronic drawings, diagrams and operational specifications, ability to correct complex technical difficulties; ability to work with others; good communication skills; initiative; resourcefulness; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
