The Bethel Schools Program Specialist works under general direction of P-12 partnerships performing a variety of duties to support equitable access to Pierce College services, coursework, and degree pathways. The position performs general program support functions for the Pierce College at Bethel High School site, serving as the point of contact for students, faculty, and Bethel High School staff during program hours as well as providing direct student support for enrollment and navigation of financial aid, advising, academic, and other Pierce College resources. This role supports smooth operation of the evening instruction program by performing site management tasks including greeting students and monitoring Pierce College student activity (enforcing Pierce College and BHS safety guidelines); helping students with wayfinding; opening and closing classrooms; setting up and putting away signage; assisting students with accessing college/program support, services, and resources; assisting faculty with classroom technology; administering informal student surveys; data collection and entry; report preparation and/or presentations; and collaborating with MarCom to generate promotional material and assist with outreach, webpage, and social media tasks. This position works independently and requires consistent and regular attendance.

Essential Functions
Essential Functions:
Prospect, Applicant, and Current Student Support
Position is responsible for site operations at the Pierce College Bethel High School location.
Communicate admission policies and processes to prospective students, staff and community members; serve as a point of contact for applicants, responding to questions, gathering information, and making referrals as needed.
Provide holistic and culturally sustainable support services to new, continuing, and returning students to ensure a sense of belonging for all students from applicant, to enrolled through completion of educational goals.
Engage with new students to support their intake journey, provide encouragement and assistance with tools that help them prepare for the initial academic advising session; support students in completion of online Student Success Orientation, including Guided Self Placement and the Welcome and Support Survey.
Support students in developing a funding plan to include; application for financial aid, scholarships, and other resources.
Inform students about program and degree options, planning coursework, and transfer and career opportunities.
Educate students on dual credit options and provide appropriate insight on connection with high school requirements.
Independently assist students in using and understanding class catalogs, class schedules, and ctcLink; advise students on enrollment options; help students navigate the Pierce College website.
Participate in activities and Bethel School District sponsored events for students, parents, and community members across the district.
Collaborate with school district staff and P-12 and PC3 leadership to plan, implement and evaluate program activities to support student engagement in dual credit options.
Supervision of Site/Program Space
Open and close program area/classrooms; set up/break down of signage; unlock and supervise entrance designated for Pierce College student traffic; assist faculty with classroom keys, instructional computers, classroom set-up, and troubleshooting technology; ensure compliance with safety guidelines; serve as point of contact for faculty, academic support staff, students, and BHS staff.
Greet students and assist with wayfinding; assist in staffing Pierce College student resource area; organize and lend study supplies; assist students with use of computers, printers, and student support area; record students needs/usage of equipment; connect students to campus and online resources.
Confidently address safety matters in a manner consistent with PCD and BSD established guidelines; communicate matters to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Identify student support needs, enrollment challenges, class set up concerns, and other issues and independently apply solutions and alternatives to meet the site goals and objectives while keeping appropriate leadership informed.
Collaborate with Bethel staff, Director of P-12 Partnerships, and Pierce College leadership to plan and implement program offerings.
Manage compliance with required background check processes for faculty and staff and work with Finance to ensure a smooth reimbursement process.
Record Keeping/Preparing Reports
Track student activity; use data to inform planning for future class offerings assist with informal surveying of students; compile survey data (data entry); assist with preparing program material/reports and promotional materials.
Investigate community data sources related to workforce needs, ALICE populations, etc. to assist in informing site priorities.
Collaborate with Director of P-12 Partnerships, Director of Pierce County Careers Connection, and Dean team to develop, implement, and evaluate current and future program offerings, priorities, and community workforce needs.

Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), classified, overtime-eligible position with the Pierce College District. This position is permanent after serving a 6-month probationary period. The primary work location is at Bethel High School. This position is eligible for not eligible for telework. Standard work hours are between 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours required. This position may be subject to reassignment between campuses or sites. This position reports directly to the Director of P-12 Partnerships and requires regular and consistent attendance.
Salary & Benefits:
The starting salary range for this position is $66,072.00 to $78,504.00 annually with annual increments up to $80,496.00. The salary will be determined based on the candidates qualifications and related experience. Most candidates will start at $66,072.00. Your paycheck is just part of the total compensation package. Retirement and Supplemental Plans
Classified Pierce College Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs. For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems web site.
Employees also have the ability to participate in the state Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) and the State Board Voluntary Investment Program (SBVIP), administered by TIAA-CREF. These are supplemental retirement savings programs (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
Leave
Classified employees begin accruing 9.33 hours of vacation and 8 hours of sick leave starting their first month of employment. The amount of vacation an employee can accrue increases the longer they work with us (up to a maximum of 16 hours, 40 minutes per month after twenty-five years of service). A maximum of 30 working days (280 hours) of vacation may be accumulated. Employees also receive two personal leave days after four months of employment.
Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year.
Holidays
Full-time employees are entitled to ten paid holidays and a personal holiday of their choice (may be used after four months of employment).
Tuition Reimbursement
Permanent Classified employees working half-time or more may take space-available classes for $5 per quarter with the Tuition Waiver program (typically after a 6 month probationary period).
