Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm in New York, NY.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 2-4 years of bankruptcy and creditors' rights experience to join a collaborative litigation team. The practice represents secured creditors, landlords, asset purchasers, equipment lessors, fiduciaries, and other stakeholders in complex restructurings, workouts, and Chapter 11 proceedings.

Responsibilities
  • Represent secured creditors, landlords, asset purchasers, equipment lessors, and fiduciaries in bankruptcy and restructuring matters.

  • Advise clients in out-of-court workouts, restructurings, and all phases of Chapter 11 proceedings.

  • Handle creditors' rights matters involving the Uniform Commercial Code, commercial finance, and equipment leasing.

  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other bankruptcy-related filings.

  • Manage case strategy, conduct legal research, and oversee all phases of litigation.

  • Take and defend depositions, negotiate settlements, and communicate with opposing counsel.

  • Appear before federal, state, and bankruptcy courts.

  • Collaborate with clients and attorneys on complex restructuring and insolvency matters.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in the New York Bar or eligibility to become admitted.

  • 2-4 years of bankruptcy and financial restructuring experience.

  • Experience representing secured creditors, landlords, asset purchasers, equipment lessors, or fiduciaries.

  • Strong knowledge of creditors' rights, bankruptcy law, commercial finance, equipment leasing, and the Uniform Commercial Code, particularly Articles 2, 2A, and 9.

  • Deposition, courtroom, and case management experience preferred.

  • Excellent drafting, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $230,000-$285,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
