A well-established and respected Connecticut law firm is seeking a Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Associate Attorney to join its growing litigation practice in Stamford.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to work on sophisticated matters involving bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, commercial disputes, and litigation, while gaining meaningful courtroom and client experience and developing a long-term career with an established legal team.

The Opportunity

The attorney will represent financial institutions, businesses, creditors, and other clients in a variety of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters.

This role provides hands-on experience with contested hearings, motion practice, pleadings, legal research, and litigation strategy. The attorney will have the opportunity to work directly with clients and experienced practitioners while taking on increasing responsibility throughout the life cycle of matters.

Candidates with a strong commercial litigation background who are interested in developing a bankruptcy and creditors’ rights practice are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do

  • Represent creditors, financial institutions, businesses, and other clients in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters
  • Handle pleadings, motions, hearings, discovery, and legal research
  • Appear in state and federal court as appropriate
  • Assist with commercial litigation involving insolvency, collections, and business disputes
  • Develop litigation strategies and assist in managing matters from inception through resolution
  • Communicate directly with clients and provide practical, business-focused legal guidance
  • Work closely with experienced attorneys on sophisticated matters
  • Take on increasing responsibility as your experience and practice develop

Ideal Candidate

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active Connecticut Bar admission, or the ability to become licensed promptly
  • Approximately 3–5 years of legal experience
  • Background in bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, commercial litigation, or a related practice
  • Candidates with commercial litigation experience and a genuine interest in bankruptcy are encouraged to apply
  • Strong legal research, analytical writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills
  • Comfortable handling multiple matters and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Sound judgment and a commitment to providing exceptional client service
