Job Title: AV Events Sales Manager

Location: American Fork, UT (on-site)

Salary: $80,000-$100,000 Base plus Commission

Position type: Full-time permanent

Category: Sales, Live Events

Summary

The organization is seeking an experienced AV Events Sales Manager to manage the sales process from initial inquiry through signed contract for corporate and live event production clients. This role responds to warm inbound leads, leads discovery conversations, scopes event needs, prepares accurate quotes in Lasso, presents proposals, closes profitable business, and transitions booked events to the Production Manager for execution.

This is a polished, client-facing sales position for someone with strong AV knowledge who can confidently recommend appropriate solutions, accurately scope labor and equipment, and protect project margins. The role also includes prospecting and networking to generate new business, as well as light post-sale involvement through client check-ins, upsell opportunities, billing-related order changes, and relationship development to support repeat business and referrals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to warm inbound leads from phone, email, website inquiries, referrals, and other sources.
  • Generate net new business through prospecting, networking, outreach, and relationship development, especially during slower periods.
  • Lead client discovery conversations to understand event goals, technical requirements, budget, venue considerations, and production expectations.
  • Build customized AV quotes in Lasso that align with client needs, event objectives, profitability targets, and margin requirements.
  • Independently scope and quote audio, video, lighting, power, scenic, labor, equipment, timing, outsourced vendors, and production requirements for simple and complex events.
  • Gather, manage, and incorporate bids from third-party vendors, freelancers, subcontractors, and creative partners as needed.
  • Create simple 2D mockups or visual concepts using Canva or similar tools to help clients understand the proposed event experience.
  • Present proposals professionally, revise scope when needed, and move qualified opportunities through contract signing.
  • Own the sales process through signed contract, deposit collection, and payment follow-up, with administrative support for final payment collection.
  • Serve as the primary client-facing sales contact during the booking process and maintain strong client relationships after the sale.
  • Stay lightly involved during planning through periodic check-ins, upsell conversations, and support for order changes that require quoting or billing.
  • Provide a clear and detailed handoff to the Production Manager once an event is booked.
  • Attend site walks, client meetings, and strategically selected events to strengthen relationships and support repeat business.
  • Maintain accurate sales data, pipeline activity, communication records, forecasting, and related information in Lasso and associated systems.
  • Collaborate with marketing on sales collateral, campaigns, lead generation, conversion support, and process improvements.
  • Help improve sales processes, quoting standards, margin protection, and the overall client experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Prior success in AV sales, event production sales, or technical project-based B2B sales.
  • Strong working knowledge of audio, video, lighting, power, scenic, labor, and live event production solutions.
  • Ability to confidently and accurately scope and quote both simple and complex events.
  • Strong understanding of labor calculations, installation timing, production flow, and proper pricing to maintain margin.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, present solutions, negotiate, manage accounts, and close business.
  • Experience managing outsourced vendor bids and incorporating subcontracted scopes into event proposals.
  • Ability to create simple 2D visual mockups using Canva or similar tools.
  • Strong communication, follow-up, presentation, negotiation, and account management skills.
  • Experience using CRM and quoting systems.
  • Ability to improve an existing sales process while learning and aligning with the organization's established sales approach.
  • Willingness to work a hybrid schedule, attend in-person site walks and client meetings, and participate in selected strategic events.
  • Experience with corporate events, conferences, galas, fundraisers, meetings, or similar live production environments.
  • Ability to work closely with production and technical teams and understand how events are installed, staffed, and executed.

Preferences

  • Lasso experience.
  • 3–7+ years of experience in AV or live event production with a sales or account management focus.
  • Experience scoping and quoting corporate events such as conferences, galas, fundraisers, and meetings.
  • Background building complete event quotes, including gear and labor, rather than only passing specifications to others.
  • Experience supporting nonprofit events, social events, concerts, or out-of-state events.
  • Strong relationship-nurturing ability that supports repeat business and referrals.
  • Detail-oriented, margin-aware approach to quoting and client management.

Benefits

  • 10 days of PTO per calendar year.
  • 8 paid holidays per year.
  • 4 sick days per year.
  • Mileage reimbursement for out-of-state events using your own vehicle at the IRS standard rate.
  • 401(k) eligibility after 1 year, with company match up to 4% based on contribution scale.
  • Company laptop provided.
  • VOIP service provided.
  • Confidentiality agreement and NSA/NDA require
