  • Install, adjust and set automotive systems in accordance with manufacturers specifications and tests the completed product.
  • Duties are performed independently in accordance with accepted trade practices and guides.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • A medical examination is required as this position requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally, move moderately heavy items weighing 50 or more pounds with assistance or with mechanical devices.
  • Must be willing to accept varying and/or rotating shifts to include mornings, afternoons, early evening, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid state drivers license prior to the time of appointment.
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time of appointment.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  1. Be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds (occasionally, move objects over 50 pounds with assistance or with mechanical devices).

  2. Possess a valid motor vehicle operators drivers license.

  3. Have work experience performing the identified duties (Repairing or replacing improperly functioning parts for repair or replacement using on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment; install, adjust and set automotive systems in accordance with manufacturers specifications and tests the completed products.)

  4. Be able to work independently.

This experience must be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position.

Skill and Knowledge: Knowledge of the various techniques for removing, replacing, cleaning and installing parts and components. Skill to make adjustments and settings and in the operation of tools and equipment used. Understanding of diagnostic and test equipment; the make-up and operation of systems and their interrelationship.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: knowledge, skills, abilities, additional screening criteria and other characteristics.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":

  1. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications

OR

  1. A valid New York State Motor Vehicle Inspectors License

The experience/education/certification must be reflected on your resume and your degree/transcript/certification uploaded at the time of application to be considered a highly preferred candidate.

Area of Consideration

Allowances and Differentials

  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.

The Army, as one of the three military departments (Army, Navy and Air Force) reporting to the Department of Defense, is composed of two distinct and equally important components: the active component and the reserve components. The reserve components are the United States Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.

It also allows the Army to expand rapidly in time of war. The industrial base provides world-class equipment and logistics for the Army. Army installations provide the power-projection platforms required to deploy land forces promptly to support combatant commanders. Once those forces are deployed, the institutional Army provides the logistics needed to support them.

Without the institutional Army, the operational Army cannot function. Without the operational Army, the institutional Army has no purpose.

To deploy, fight and win our nation’s wars by providing ready, prompt and sustained land dominance by Army forces across the full spectrum of conflict as part of the joint force.

The Army mission is vital to the Nation because we are the service capable of defeating enemy ground forces and indefinitely seizing and controlling those things an adversary prizes most – its land, its resources and its population.
