    Automation/Maintenance Technician

    Location: Salt Lake City, UT
    Type: Full-Time

    Position Summary

    Seeking a Maintenance Automation Technician to support and optimize automated manufacturing equipment in a high-volume production environment. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, programming, and improving automation systems to maximize uptime, efficiency, quality, and production output.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Troubleshoot and repair automation equipment, including PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, sensors, instrumentation, and control systems.
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, ladder logic diagrams, and technical drawings.
    • Perform routine diagnostics, inspections, and preventive maintenance on automated equipment.
    • Program and modify PLC and HMI systems to support manufacturing process improvements.
    • Identify and implement automation improvements that increase efficiency, capacity, quality, and reliability.
    • Commission, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and process control systems.
    • Assist with the design, installation, and startup of new automation equipment and systems.
    • Perform low-voltage electrical wiring and support mechanical automation projects.
    • Monitor system performance and maintain accurate documentation and engineering records.
    • Collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, production, and vendor partners to resolve issues and support operations.

    Qualifications

    • Technical certificate or degree, or equivalent combination of education and automation maintenance experience.
    • Experience maintaining automated manufacturing equipment in an industrial environment.
    • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, robotics, and industrial control systems.
    • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
    • Experience programming and modifying PLC/HMI systems.
    • Ability to read electrical drawings, P&IDs, and ladder logic diagrams.
    • Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.

    Technical Skills

    • PLC programming and troubleshooting (Studio 5000 or similar)
    • FactoryTalk View or equivalent HMI software
    • AutoCAD and technical documentation
    • Industrial automation and process control systems
