Description

The Athletics Academic Counselor and Tutorial Coordinator is responsible for conducting an academic support program for student-athletes in designated sports while promoting an environment of academic excellence and fostering student success and retention. The incumbent monitors and enhances the opportunity for progress towards a degree, graduation, and continuing eligibility in accordance with UCR, Big West Conference, and NCAA regulations. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing the tutoring program, including hiring, ongoing training, and supervision of tutorial student staff. The full salary range for the Athletics Academic Counselor and Tutorial Coordinator is $64,050.00 - $112,140.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $72,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements. \n \nMonitors students' academic progress. Maintains accurate student files and calculates academic progress toward degree requirements. Assists with the certification of student-athletes and NCAA reporting by providing the documentation and monitoring required for compliance and academic eligibility related activities while displaying a working knowledge of the Academic Progress Program and the Academic Progress Rate.Provides multicultural academic counseling across disciplines and colleges/schools to "at risk" populations (e.g., low-income, first-generation college, underrepresented populations, etc.).Hires, trains, and supervises the work of graduate interns and paraprofessionals.Assumes liaison responsibility with academic departments, faculty, and community organizations. Works with academic departments, faculty, and department management to help resolve specific student academic issues. Regularly communicates with Coaching Staff, Compliance, Campus Academic Advisors, Admissions, Registrar's Office, Academic Resource Center and Counseling Center as well as other campus groups as assigned.Available to the general student-athlete body for "drop-in" consultation and/or referral to appropriate support services.Conducts comprehensive analyses of students' issues and needs and provides solutions and alternatives to problem areas.Helps students develop strategies to solve academic and personal problems.Assists students with the academic research process, including developing a question and hypothesis, selecting appropriate quantitative or qualitative research methods, evaluating evidence, and writing reports.Other duties as assigned.Plans, implements, and teaches academic and personal development seminars/courses.
