Our Dynamic Metabolic Control technology platform delivers robust and predictably scalable biocatalysts resulting in cost-competitive and sustainable processes for everyday chemicals. We are a multi-product bio-based chemical company, working ingeniously to reduce the cost of biochemicals for markets in animal feed, human nutrition, pharmaceutical materials, and chemical intermediates.

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated Associate Project Manager to join our R&D Team in RTP, NC. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of project management experience within the biotech, specifically industrial fermentation, industry, preferably a background in managing projects related to synthetic biology research, development, and commercialization.

Please note that this position is supported by grant funding and is initially offered for a 12-month term, subject to the terms and duration of the grant.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables.
• Develop comprehensive charters, project plans, descriptive meeting minutes, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and milestones.
• Execute project plans, monitor progress, and proactively identify and address potential risks and roadblocks.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, facilitating regular communication and ensuring alignment on project objectives, timelines, and expectations.
• Prepare and deliver clear and concise project status reports, presentations, and updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate resource allocation and utilization, including personnel, to support project activities and meet established timelines.
• Identify resource constraints and collaborate with the technical manager to optimize resource allocation and support project success.
• Anticipate and mitigate project risks and issues, employing effective problem-solving and negotiation techniques to resolve challenges and maintain project momentum.
• Implement contingency plans as needed to address unforeseen circumstances and ensure project deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.
• Monitor project quality and compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices, identifying opportunities for process improvement and optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Analytical, curious, and data-oriented mindset to drive the use of project management data to help project teams make informed decisions.
• Minimum of 2 years of project management experience in the biotech industry, with a focus on synthetic biology projects.
• Proven track record of successfully managing a project from initiation to completion, within established timelines and budgets.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in project management tools and software applications, specifically Smartsheet, Confluence/Atlassian, and Jira, with the demonstrated desire and ability to deepen skills and knowledge.
• Strong understanding of synthetic biology and/or molecular biology principles, methodologies, and technologies.
• PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials preferred but not required.
