A bit about us:

A well-established civil litigation defense practice is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its St. Petersburg, Florida team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to build a long-term litigation practice while working on sophisticated matters involving individuals, businesses, professionals, and insurance carriers.

The ideal candidate will have experience in general liability, professional liability, medical malpractice, or insurance defense and be comfortable taking ownership of cases. Attorneys with strong civil litigation backgrounds who are looking to expand into these areas will also be considered.

Manage all phases of civil litigation from initial case evaluation through resolution and trial.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.
Conduct legal research and analyze complex factual and legal issues.
Take and defend depositions.
Participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other court proceedings.
Develop case strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys and clients.
Communicate directly with clients, insurance carriers, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and other parties.
Evaluate liability and damages and assist with settlement strategy.
Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial preparation and, as experience develops, courtroom proceedings.
Manage multiple matters while maintaining strong organization and attention to deadlines.
Practice Areas

The attorney will have the opportunity to work on a variety of defense matters, including:

General liability
Professional liability
Medical malpractice
Premises liability
Bodily injury claims
Insurance-related litigation
Long-term care and healthcare-related claims
Negligence and professional negligence
Other complex civil litigation matters

Job Details

J.D. from an accredited law school.
Active Florida Bar license and good standing.
2–8 years of civil litigation experience.
Insurance defense experience strongly preferred.
Experience with general liability, professional liability, medical malpractice, or related litigation is a plus.
Strong legal research and writing abilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to independently manage cases, prioritize deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to client service.
Trial experience is a plus but not required for the right candidate.
