An established Florida trial firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with medical malpractice, healthcare liability or related insurance-defense experience to join its Tampa office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to develop a sophisticated medical malpractice and professional liability defense practice while gaining meaningful exposure to depositions, experts, complex medical issues and trial preparation.

Typical base compensation scales with experience:

3 years: approximately $130K
4 years: approximately $140K
5 years: approximately $150K
Additional flexibility exists for highly qualified candidates
Bonus Structure

Associates are eligible for a quarterly productivity bonus program based on experience-level billing targets.

For hours billed above the applicable quarterly target, attorneys receive additional per-hour compensation, plus an additional bonus for achieving the quarterly goal.

Professional liability
Catastrophic injury
Wrongful death
General liability
Premises liability
Transportation matters
Responsibilities
Manage medical malpractice and healthcare-defense matters
Review extensive medical records and develop case strategy
Draft motions, pleadings and discovery
Take and defend depositions
Work with medical experts
Prepare physicians, healthcare professionals and other witnesses
Attend hearings and mediations
Communicate directly with clients and insurance carriers
Participate meaningfully in trial preparation
Assume increasing ownership of matters as experience develops
Qualifications
Active Florida Bar admission
Approximately 3+ years of litigation experience preferred
Medical malpractice experience highly desirable
Healthcare liability, professional liability or sophisticated insurance-defense experience also considered
Strong deposition and discovery experience
Ability to understand and analyze complex medical records and causation issues
Strong research, writing and client-communication skills
Trial exposure is a plus but not required
