Approximately 90% of our work involves bankruptcy, with a blend of Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 12 matters, supported by debt restructuring, commercial law, and agricultural legal services.
Our practice has more demand than our current team can accommodate, creating an opportunity for an experienced associate to take meaningful responsibility for client matters. You will join a collaborative team with strong internal communication and receive mentorship from experienced practitioners, including a founder recognized for his agricultural bankruptcy expertise.

Job DetailsResponsibilities
- 3+ Years of active practice experience
- Manage assigned bankruptcy, debt restructuring, and related business matters with appropriate senior attorney collaboration.
- Evaluate client circumstances and help develop practical legal and financial strategies.
- Research legal issues and draft petitions, schedules, motions, pleadings, orders, and other documents.
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, depositions, hearings, and court proceedings.
- Assist with Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 12 matters, including claims, secured debt, and restructuring issues.
- Communicate clearly with clients, financial advisers, opposing counsel, courts, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct prospective-client consultations and help clients understand their options.
- Manage deadlines, discovery, case progression, and timely client updates.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
- Use the firm’s technology and documented procedures to maintain organized files and consistent work product.
- Contribute ideas to improve workflows and client service.
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school.
- Licensed in Iowa or actively pursuing Iowa licensure.
- At least three years of attorney experience; five or more years of relevant experience preferred.
- Relevant experience in bankruptcy and restructuring, commercial litigation, secured lending, loan transactions, state court litigation, real estate, agricultural matters, or business law.
- Ability to take responsibility for assigned matters and manage deadlines with a meaningful level of independence.
- Strong research, writing, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Effective client communication and sound professional judgment.
- Understanding of business and financial concepts, with interest in developing agricultural industry knowledge.
- Comfort using legal technology and adapting to improved systems.
- Estate or other complementary practice experience welcome.
