Assistant Women's Cut & Sew Knits/Wovens Designer to support the Women's Design team. The company focuses on trend-forward women's apparel and offers an opportunity to work closely with senior design leadership in a fast-paced environment.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $25/hr - $28/hr
Position Overview: The Assistant Women's Cut & Sew Knits/Wovens Designer will support the Women's Design team with the development of cut & sew knit and woven apparel. This role will assist with design concepts, technical sketches, tech packs, fabric and trim selections, sample development, and fittings. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working in a collaborative fashion environment.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Women's Cut & Sew Knits/Wovens Designer:- Assist the Designer with developing women's woven and cut & sew knit collections and seasonal styles.
- Research current fashion trends, colors, fabrics, silhouettes, and market direction.
- Create technical sketches, design concepts, mood boards, and style presentations.
- Assist with fabric, trim, lace, embellishment, and color selection.
- Prepare and maintain accurate tech packs, line sheets, sketches, and design specifications.
- Support the development of prototypes and samples with pattern makers, sample makers, and production teams.
- Attend fittings and provide feedback on fit, proportion, construction, and overall appearance.
- Review samples and communicate revisions and corrections to ensure designs align with the original concept.
- Assist with updating product information and design documentation in PLM.
- Support the Designer with day-to-day design and administrative responsibilities as needed.
Required Experience/Skills for the Assistant Women's Cut & Sew Knits/Wovens Designer:- 1-3 years of experience in women's fashion design, apparel development, or a related role preferred.
- Strong understanding of women's garment construction and fit.
- Ability to create and communicate design ideas through sketches and visual presentations.
- Experience creating technical sketches, tech packs, or garment specifications.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
- Familiarity with PLM systems.
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, trims, embellishments, sewing techniques, and garment finishing.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Assistant Women's Cut & Sew Knits/Wovens Designer:- Experience designing or developing women's cut & sew knits and wovens.
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience working with pattern makers, sample makers, and production teams.
- Experience attending fittings and providing technical/design feedback.
- Strong interest in current fashion trends and market direction.
- Proficiency with Excel.
Education Requirements:- Degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field preferred.
