    About the Opportunity

    A premier golf property in the Orlando area is seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join its Agronomy team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a turf professional who wants to advance their career at a high-quality golf operation with exceptional standards for course conditioning, presentation, and the overall player experience.

    The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and agronomy leadership team to oversee daily golf course maintenance, turf health, irrigation, staff coordination, equipment utilization, and special projects.

    We are looking for someone who enjoys being in the field, takes ownership of course conditions, communicates effectively with the team, and is interested in continuing to develop as a golf course management professional.

    Key Responsibilities

    Golf Course Maintenance

    • Assist with the daily maintenance and conditioning of the golf course, practice facilities, and surrounding property.

    • Help coordinate mowing, course setup, bunker maintenance, irrigation, fertilization, landscaping, and other daily agronomic activities.

    • Monitor course conditions throughout the day and proactively address areas requiring attention.

    • Help maintain consistently high standards for turf quality, playability, appearance, and overall course presentation.

    • Assist with maintenance of natural areas, landscaping, maintenance facilities, restrooms, and other designated areas of the property.

    Turf & Agronomy

    • Monitor overall turf health and identify potential issues involving disease, insects, weeds, moisture, and environmental stress.

    • Assist with fertilizer, pesticide, and plant protectant applications.

    • Monitor irrigation performance and soil moisture to support healthy and consistent playing conditions.

    • Help diagnose turf problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

    • Assist with cultural practices including aerification, topdressing, verticutting, overseeding, and other seasonal agronomic programs.

    • Support the Superintendent in implementing the property's overall agronomic plan.

    Irrigation Management

    • Monitor the golf course irrigation system and identify coverage or performance issues.

    • Assist with irrigation troubleshooting and repairs.

    • Make irrigation adjustments based on turf conditions, weather, soil moisture, and seasonal requirements.

    • Help ensure water is used efficiently while maintaining desired playing conditions.

    Team Leadership

    • Assist in directing and coordinating the daily activities of the golf course maintenance team.

    • Help assign daily tasks and communicate expectations to team members.

    • Monitor work quality and provide guidance when needed.

    • Help train employees on proper maintenance techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.

    • Lead by example and contribute to a positive, accountable, and professional work environment.

    • Assume additional leadership responsibilities when the Golf Course Superintendent is unavailable.

    Projects & Equipment

    • Assist with minor golf course construction, renovation, drainage, irrigation, and improvement projects.

    • Help coordinate equipment utilization to ensure work is completed efficiently.

    • Monitor equipment condition and communicate maintenance or repair needs.

    • Conduct inspections of the golf course, maintenance areas, and other facilities to identify opportunities for improvement.

    Records, Inventory & Compliance

    • Maintain accurate records related to maintenance activities, chemical and fertilizer applications, inventory, weather, and other agronomic information.

    • Assist with fertilizer, pesticide, seed, and maintenance supply inventory.

    • Follow all applicable environmental, pesticide, workplace safety, and regulatory requirements.

    • Help maintain proper documentation for chemical applications and other regulated activities.

    • Assist with annual maintenance planning, budgeting, and capital improvement priorities as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Previous experience in golf course maintenance, turfgrass management, agronomy, or a related field.

    • Understanding of golf course maintenance practices and turfgrass management principles.

    • Knowledge of irrigation, fertilization, pesticide applications, turf diseases, weeds, and insects.

    • Experience operating golf course maintenance equipment.

    • Ability to identify turf and irrigation issues and assist with appropriate corrective action.

    • Strong communication and organizational skills.

    • Ability to effectively coordinate and work with a golf course maintenance team.

    • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.

    • Ability to work outdoors in Florida conditions and perform the physical duties associated with golf course maintenance.

    • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and other schedules required by golf course operations.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, Golf Course Management, or a related discipline.

    • Previous experience as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant-in-Training (AIT), Spray Technician, Irrigation Technician, or senior golf course maintenance team member.

    • Florida pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain applicable licensing.

    • Experience with warm-season turfgrass and Florida growing conditions.

    • Experience with golf course irrigation systems and irrigation troubleshooting.

    • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
